1. When did you first start stitching?
I first started stitching when I was 13.
2. How long have you been stitching?
That would be 16 years.
3. Did someone teach you or did you teach yourself?
I taught myself. When I was in middle school we used to make braclets with the floss. One day I was bored and decided to see what the floss was really used for.
4. Describe your first project (if you can remember!).
I bought a Leisure Arts pattern that had baby motifs. It was on aida and I remember not being able to get all 6 strands of the DMC into the needle. We (my mom and I) went back to the craft store and asked them what to do, they told us to just use two strands. :)
5. When did you first realise that stitching was for you?
I stitched off and on during that time up until I graduated high school. It wasn't until about 1995, after I was married a couple years, when I stitched my first L&L angel that I realized stitching was for me, after that I was definitely hooked!!

Notice she doesn't have wings (there wasn't enough fabric) and I framed it myself, I had a mat covering up parts of her so you can see the fabric is darker where the mat was. It's a mess, but I can't get rid of it. Sentimental I guess! :)

I restitched my Spring Alphabet. I stitched it on 28 ct. instead of 32 and I used Olde Willow Winter Wheat instead of Olde Graditude Rose. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Here's a pic...

Heart in Hand Spring Alphabet #1

Well, my dh went to the doctor yesterday and found out he's got a blod clot in his vein by the gun shot wound. So he worked a total of 1 1/2 hours yesterday. And then the doctor told him he's got to stay in bed. He goes back tomorrow so they can make sure the clot is not moving to a deeper vein. Hopefully it's not and it stays in the superficial veins. I have to work again today, I hope he'll be ok on his own. The poor thing! :(

April Flip-It is finished! :)

April Flip-It Block

It was a fun one, I love the colors! I stitched Spring Alphabet by Heart in Hand at the stitch-in too, but it didn't look anything like the pictures. The thread given for the little house and bee was pink. Not at all right! And I had a ton of mistakes, so I think I'm going to restitch it. I hate it that I want my stitching perfect, but it bugs me so much when there are obvious mistakes. I probably just need to get over it and start something else! But I really like this design and I want it to look right. :)

Well, dh went back to work this morning I gave him my laptop and printer because he's going to be doing a lot of deskwork for a little while. Poor thing, I know that's not what he'd like to be doing, but it will just have to be that way for now. I know he feels like he's being punished in a way. Oh well, hopefully it's not for too long. Well, that's all for now!!!

I finished my snowman!! :) It turned out so cute! :)

Shepherd's Bush "Patriotic Snowman"

I went to my stitch-in yesterday, and had a blast!! I'm so happy that I have finally met some stitching friends! It's so much fun to be able to see what other's are stitching and to be able to talk about stitching. None of my other friends (except Melanie) know what I'm talking about! :)

Well, it's back to work tomorrow. It's going to be strange going back after being gone for so long. But I'm sure it will be good to get back into a routine, and we need the money!! :)

Well, jake is bumping his head against his crib. It's his newest way of getting attention. I think his head is made of cement!!! :)

Friday, March 26, 2004

Well, I'm still stitching away on my Patriotic Snowman. It's almost done, I'm sure I'll be finished by today. Tomorrow I'm going to a stitch-in near Augusta. I'm so excited to get out of the house and stitch all day!! :) They are having an Easter basket exchange. I've got mine all ready, I can't wait!! And then Sunday it's back to work. I have mixed feelings, I need the money, but I could easily be a SAHM (stay at home mom). Although, it is nice to drop the kids off with Grandma and talk to adults other than my dh.

Speaking of dh, he's doing great. He went to phyiscal therapy once, and they told him he didn't have to come back. Yesterday he jogged two miles (slowly), so he's definitely on his way back feeling normal. He still has some pain and soreness, but is doing really well. He's going back to work on Monday, I think it will be good for him to talk to adults other than me!! LOL! That's all for now!! :)

Well, things are starting to get back to normal around here some. Dh went to the doctor yesterday and he said he will have to do a little physical therapy and he will be able to go back to work on the 29th. I wish I would've went back to work a little sooner, but I'm also glad I didn't because I think it's important for us to reconnect as a family. We all get so busy and this has been good to slow us down and be together.

I got my Patriotic Snowman back out. I'd like to hurry up and get him (her) finished because there are spring projects I'd like to be working on! :) I can't believe the 1st day of spring is almost here. This year is flying by already!! Well, we're going to a 2 year olds b-day party today. Should be lots of fun, lol! I'll never forget Bradley's... he was a screamer back then. If you took away a present to get it open he'd scream, it was a wonderful party! Anyways, I'm sure it will be fun for the kids. Thankfully I have a great excuse waiting at home in case I need to leave early!! :)

Finally finished!
Shepherd's Bush Love

Shepherd's Bush's Monthly Musing - Love. This design gave me so much trouble. I was watching a movie when I started it, so I must have been distracted because I'm off one stitch horizontally and vertically. Oh well, I frogged and fudged it and hopefully it doesn't show. I'm just glad to have it finished, so I can move on to something else that doesn't have any mistakes! :)

My dh is doing well. It's hard to believe it's already been a week since the incident. I have been up and down emotionally today. I've been a little grouchy because it's hard taking care of 2 kids and a big kid. But I was glad to get some stitching time in. To take a quote from Diane at Sampler Cove "I get so cross when I don't stitch." That's so true for me!! :) Well, that's all for now. I'd better get some sleep because hubby has a doctor appt. tomorrow morning.

Stitchers Five for the week of 15 March 04

1. What is your favourite fabric to use? (e.g. aida, evenweave, linen etc)
Linen, preferably cashel or belast.
2. What is your favourite count (e.g. 14, 28, 32 etc)
28 or 32 ct.
3. Do you collect fabric 'just to have' or do you buy it with a design in mind?
I usually buy with a design in mind.
4. What is your favourite colour for fabric?
Favorite would have to R&R's Creme Brulee or Park City Blend.
5. If you were heading for a desert island, and you only had one choice of fabric to take with you, what would you take?
I would take whatever fabric had my biggest WIP to keep me busy the longest. :)
I usually try to keep my Blog light and not get too emotional. But last thursday my husband was shot in the leg. It's been pretty hard on me emotionally and I'm just trying to hold it together for my family. So obviously I haven't been stitching much. I am hoping to get a little done tonight. I think for my sanity I need to!! :) Here's a link to the online news articles if anyone's interested....

Woo Hoo Stash Alert!! :)

Went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and got some more beads and charms to make more fobs. I'm so addicted to these! :) I also found a Quaker Necessities chart at 50% off. Today I went to my LNS. I went mainly to show them the Webpage I set up for them. And secondly to finally get Shepherd's Bush's Love. I also picked up Blackbird designs Tokens of Friendship book. It's got eight great designs in it. I was pretty excited about it. Well, Jake's sleeping, Bradley's getting ready to go to sleep and I'm ready to stitch!!!! :)

This is from Stitchy Jen's Blog...

The Stitcher's Five - for the week of 8 March 04

1. Who is your favourite designer (just one sorry!).
Shepherd's Bush, that's probably pretty obvious!! :)
2. How many of their designs have you stitched?
Hmm... that's a hard one. I'd have to say 34, and 2 wips.
3. What makes them your favourite designer?
The soft colors, the subjects. They're just very pretty designs.
4. What would you like to see them next design?
Some more pretty band samplers like Queen Bee Sampler and Dresser Drawer Hearts.
5. Would you collect all their patterns just to have them all?
Not the patterns, but the kits, especially the shop exclusive kits.
I dusted the cobwebs off my UFO Tina's stocking. I'd love to finish her sometime this year. She didn't have a head for a long time, and now she finally does! :)

Not much else going on here. No one's sick thankfully, and spring is on it's way! Next to Autumn, it's my favorite season! :)

My last 3 fobs for today....

My favorite so far...

My first attempt at making tassels. I finished 3 others. Bradley helped me pick out the colors. I'll have to scan those later. :)
Ok, my idea may not be so original after all. I looked on ebay and there's a ton of beaded fobs for sale. Oh well, maybe I'll just give em for gifts! :) They're fun to make, except when they fall apart!! :)
I took some time off work, and it's been so nice. I have been cleaning a lot. I'm hoping I'm not getting sick. I've been feeling a little queasy for a few days, which is how my mom felt before she got sick. So keeping fingers crossed that it doesn't get me!!! I have a few finishes...

1.) Lizzie Kate's newest freebie

2.) Blue Fob - I went to hobby lobby and bought a bunch of beads and crystals. I'm planning on selling them on eBay. Not this one because it's special because it has a Shepherd's Bush charm, but the others that I plan to make.

3.) Pink Fob - A simpler fob, I believe I received the heart charm from Shepherd's Bush. I just can't remember why or when? :)

Well, not much else!! Going to stitch on my snowman, or make a fob.. hmm.
