More Sampler Walls

I'm obsessed with having a sampler wall. I wrote earlier about Merumo and Diane Jourdan's wall. I found a few more that I love. Paulette of Plum Street Samplers has a gorgeous display of samplers going up her stairs. Check out her post from around Christmas time. Siobhan's whole house has beautiful displays of samplers. Click here for her house album. It's so pretty! And a new (to me) blogger, The Scarlett House, also has beautiful sampler displays around her house. Ever since I found her blog I have been stalking it! :) I have even sent it to my husband telling him that's how I want my house when we move back to Florida. Anyway, I pulled out some samplers that I'd like to get framed one of these days for my sampler wall. Here's a picture of some of them grouped together...

Samplers I would like to get framed for my sampler wall.
Top Row, Left to Right: Hillside Samplings "Pomegranate Sampler," Blue Ribbon Designs "Poinsettias and Pines," Blackbird Designs "Their Song and Little House Needleworks "Nature's Beauty."
Bottom Row, Left to Right: Prairie Schooler "Autumn Leaves," Mary Garry's Sewing Cabin "Peace" (out of print and I no longer have the pattern), Blackbird Designs "Summer Jubilee," Birds of a Feather "Peace," and Drawn Thread "Sunflower Bellpull."

So this is my dream. To get these framed and to get working on other samplers to have a sampler wall or maybe even a sampler house!

I didn't get any stitching done yesterday - I was just too tired! Hopefully I'll have a progress pic of something tomorrow! Write then! : )

  2. I, too, have long desired a sampler wall of my own. I have plenty of finishes to fill a wall, just not the budget for the framing. [sigh]

Your projects are gorgeous! Your wall will be fabulous when it's finished!

  3. I think that you've got a great idea...and already some beautiful samplers ready to go! I would love to do the same...I just need to work on more big projects rather than smalls :)

  4. Wow! You have so many finished. Have you ever thought about framing yourself? I just framed Queen Sheep and it was quite easy. I bought the frame and foam core from American Frame, and just put a piece of quilt batting between the fabric and the foam core and pinned the fabric all way the around using silk pins and then used stitcher's tape to tape the excess fabric to the back. And the frame only cost me $15, and the other materials about $10.

  5. Your samplers are beautiful. I am just in awe of all of your work. I am so happy that I have discovered your blog. You are seriously re-sparking my cross stitch passion. I used to stitch like crazy and then discovered quilting. That has been a primary focus for quite a while. Just in the last few months I have been craving some cross stitching. Thanks to your blog - this weekend I will get moving on a project.

  8. What a gorgeous batch of samplers! I also want a sampler wall, or preferably, many sampler walls! By the way, I clicked on this site today, and look what I found! Have you seen them? http://www.strawberrysampler.com/ I thought of you when they popped up!

  9. That's what I'm working toward too now that I've been there and done that with exchanging ;)
Learning to frame my own things helped me to cut down the cost to near nothing! And its very simple too! You could get all those framed for next to nothing if you did it yourself! And have a sampler wall next week ;) As fast as you stitch you could have a sampler house...you need to dig some more in your tubs!!! LOL!

  14. You have a lovely collection of samplers for doing your wall. I did that sometime last year where I gathered all my framed work (pre 2008 & 2008) and played around till I had a collection that looked good together.

Have fun, Nicole, designing your wall!

  18. I commiserate with your desire for a Sampler wall. My obsession bends towards a Mirabilia wall, and right now I'm between houses so I don't even have the wall! lol

    Beautiful work, by the way!

  23. Ohhhh I love your samplers!! I have an itty bitty sampler wall started (I think I have five small ones) but I've always dreamed of one like you've talked about. Girl, you get those framed and you'll have an AWESOME wall! I look forward to seeing it when your done. :)

  24. Gorgeous samplers, such a shame to have them tucked away. If you measure each one for a frame and then carry the list of measurements with you, you might be able to pick up ready made frames to suit, even if they have pictures in them. This is what I do, so I have half custom made frames and half ready made, it evens out the cost.

  25. Me too, me too!!! A couple of years ago a friend sent some pictures of the walls in her friend's house, and I've been drooling over the pictures ever since. I have a list of samplers I want to stitch on my blog for this exact same purpose. Thanks for the links!!!
You're off to a very good start with these samplers of yours, by the way! They shouldbe enough to cover at least one wall :o) They'r gorgeous, all of them.

  26. They look great, I bet your sampler wall would look amazing!

  27. Love your new blog header! Thanks for the shout out. :) I showed your post to my DH, who hints every so often that we have enough stuff for the walls. There can never be enough 'stuff'! You have such beautiful stitched samplers, both in the picture & not pictured, that you have the makings for several sampler walls! Go for it!!

  28. Sounds like we have the same dream about our walls and/or house. We will probably have to move for me to put up as many as I would like but I will worry about that after I make them all!

You have a great start and I can't wait to see them all framed and grouped! By the way, I stalk alot of the same sites to drool over their groupings!

  29. What a pretty batch of samplers! I've been wanting to make a patriotic wall for 3 years now, so I know what you mean :)

I too have a "fear of framing."

Get those beauties on the wall! :)

  32. Wow! After seeing these beautiful samplers you've stitched, I think it would be wonderful to have a room full of samplers too!

  33. You have plenty of samplers to launch your own 'wall' of needlework. Good luck!!

    Enjoy the week end

  34. I would love to have a Sampler Wall, too! I'm waiting until I buy my own house, so that I can have a room devoted to my stitching and stuff, and I'm going to fill all 4 walls with framed pieces!

I had a girlfriend in southern Indiana who lived in a Victorian house, and her whole house was filled with her samplers - it was amazing!

  35. Hi Nicole, thanks for "stalking" my blog and for the very nice compliment. I totally understand the obsession for wanting a sampler wall. Unfortunately, my wall space is quite limited and the whole back of our house is windows, which I keep threatening to board up. I'm still adding more though no matter what.
You have a wonderful group of samplers to get started.

  36. Oh man, I want a sampler wall too.... actually I think I might want YOUR smapler wall. :)

    Great stitching!!!!
