I Have Lost it!!

Well, I was using the Kindle 2 for a few days and then I started missing my Kindle 3. I missed the smaller size and the quieter buttons. It shouldn't have made a difference, but it did. I was having Kindle 3 envy everywhere I looked. :) So..... I sold my K2 and ordered another Kindle 3. This time I ordered white (3G) and I like it sooo much better. I'm finally happy!! Really and truly this time. The screen is so nice with the white casing. I think it was just the graphite that was playing tricks on my eyes. Anyway, the gadget saga is finally done now!!! I promise this time! :)

I made a little slip case using the quilt top I was making awhile back (I knew I'd never finish that quilt!!).

Ok, now that the gadget saga is officially over, I have some stitching to share. I got a little bit more stitched on Shores. I finished the dolphin and worked on the boat a little bit yesterday...

I also decided to start Ann Smith yesterday. I only got a tiny bit done. There is a lot of over one in this design. I decided to do tent stitch to make it go a little faster. Hopefully it will look ok!!

Well, we're in for a rainy day today. Perfect stitching and reading weather. I love fall! Write soon! :)

The Gadget Saga Continues....

Many were confused as to why I would buy a Kindle when I had an iPad and what did I do with my nook? Well, I sold the nook when I got my iPad because I was reading on it more than the nook. And then I realized I may have sold my nook too soon. The backlighting on the iPad started to bother my eyes and it was heavy - I wasn't exactly able to curl up in bed with it. So I decided to try out the new Kindle. I really wanted to like it, but the new screen with the greater contrast had almost too much contrast. it was making my eyes go buggy. :) I realized I really missed the Kindle 2 I gave to my mom. While looking on eBay one day I saw one for only $100 and that included the leather case and shipping and it was only 3 months old. So I got it and returned the Kindle 3. I'm so happy I did - not only did I save $100 ($40 on the Kindle and $60 on the case), but I can read with no problems in it. Now I know many people are very happy with their Kindle 3's, so I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, it just wasn't for me. Anyway, here are some pictures of my new (old) Kindle. :)

So hopefully this is the end of the gadget saga and I can get back to reading and stitching. I have really been reading a lot lately - it's almost as if I've rediscovered an old friend. I'm loving it! And speaking of stitching - I have gotten a little bit more stitched on Shores...

P.S. I'm still loving my iPad for everything, but reading. It really is awesome and my Kindle makes a great companion to it.

Stash!!

It's been awhile since I've bought any stash (cross stitch, not gadgets), so when I went up to Amy's on Saturday I got a few things I've been wanting from Down Sunshine Lane...

stash from Down Sunshine Lane

I got the new Blackbird Designs and JCS ornament issue. I also got a couple LHN ornaments and an oldie from Carriage House. "As Life Wears Away." I have always loved this design!

I got some 36 ct. Magnolia Linen from Lakeside to stitch Scarlet Letter's "Ann Smith." I was originally going to use 36 ct. Vintage Pearled Barley, but then I saw Glenna's Start on Magnolia and knew I had to copy her (sorry Glenna)! :)

I think going to Amy's is going to help get me out of my slump. I feel energized to stitch again!! :) Well, I'm going to get back to organizing my new stash and maybe settle down to finally get some stitching done!

My Kindle 3 arrived today! I'm so happy! It's just perfect. I love the new e-ink Pearl screen (better contrast). I got my mom's Kindle shipped off to her yesterday, so hopefully she gets it soon!

I splurged and got the lighted cover for it. I can't wait to try it out tonight. :)

A Tiny Bit of Progress

I'm in a stitching slump. I've been avoiding stitching the big block on Shores. I'm thinking I need to work on something smaller for a little bit and then get back to it.

You'll have to excuse the wrinkles! I was too lazy to iron today. :)

In gadget news.... I got my mom a cheap Kindle 2 off eBay. I have been reading on it a little bit and I'm really enjoying it. I didn't realize how much I missed reading on an e-ink device. Especially at night when my eyes are tired. So it looks like I'll be getting a Kindle for myself. I'm going to get the Kindle 3 (wifi). I have promised my dh that this will definitely be it for a long time. He's getting a little frustrated with my gadget obsession lately. :). The Kindle 3's are out of stock right now, so it will be a couple weeks until I get it. Until then I will use my mom's...

I got her a cute Speck case for it at Target...

Well, nothing else really going on here. Just lots of laundry, dishes, etc. The usual! Write soon! :)
