Block Eight

I'm still working on VoHRH. Here is my start on block number eight. This block is pretty much solid stitching, so it's going to take me awhile.

40 ct. Vintage Sand Dune, NPI silks (1 over 2)

I'm really looking forward to this weekend - it seems like it has been a really long week.

Hawk Run School House

I got block 11 finished up the other day!  Hope you all had a fun Halloween.  My boys were all ninjas.  They had a blast.  I also wanted to say how sorry I am for those who suffered damage and power outages during Sandy.  I hope all is repaired and restored soon!

UFO

I decided to pull out Village of Hawk Run Hollow yesterday. I haven't worked on in it over a year. I'm glad I got it back out because I'm loving it again.

A Third Done!

I just finished up block 3 of Village of Hawk Run today, so now I'm 1/3 done with it. This block is definitely one of my favorites!

The kids started school yesterday and are adjusting well. I'm so proud at how well Matthew did in his first day of kindergarten. My babies are all growing up!! :)

I Feel so Blah...

I'm not sure what's wrong with me lately. I've just been so blah. It must be summer. I'm ready for fall. I was ready for fall in spring. I'd rather just skip right over summer - especially in the South where it's in the 90's everyday and the heat index is in the 100's. I have been stitching a little. I finished the model and got back to Village of Hawk Run. I'm working on the 3rd block now...

VoHRH as of 8/6/11

I went stitching in Manning yesterday. I forgot to take pictures, but we had a lot of fun as always. It was great to see the regulars and to meet some new people! Chris and Myra came for the first time and their stitching (and sewing) was even more beautiful in person! It was great to meet you both!

I want to thank Amy again for putting together a wonderful get together. She goes through a lot of work for all of us! Thanks Amy!

School starts in a little over a week and I'm stressing big time! My baby is going into kindergarten and my oldest is starting middle school. It's a lot of change and I keep wondering where the last five years have gone! It's seems like I wrote this post just yesterday!! :)

Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow

A friend was wondering what Picture this Plus fabric might work for AaHRH. I told her I thought Relic might work. I did a floss toss with some of the called for DMC threads and I think it works really well!

Last Import-2

Now, after taking this picture, I want to set everything aside and start it! I was planning on using Sand Dune, but maybe Relic would be a better choice! :)

Melicent Turner

I just received this pattern yesterday...

I can't wait to get started! Diane did a great job with the adaption of this sampler and I love the colors she chose!

I think I may use Vanilla Pudding instead of Baguette though. The Baguettes I have are all a little dark. The linen I'm thinking of using is 40 ct. WDW Straw.

I also finished up block 6 of VoHRH. I would have been done sooner, but I had to do some frogging.

I don't have a lot to share, I've just been working on block 6 of Village of Hawk Run Hollow this week.

I finally finished block #12 of Village of Hawk Run Hollow!!

40 ct. Sand Dune, NPI and Vikki Clayton Silks.

I'm working my way up from the bottom. I'll work on block #6 next.

Amy wanted me to put out a reminder about the Pals retreat in Myrtle Beach in October. I'm looking forward to going for my third time. We always have a blast!!

Stitching ADD

I have been floundering between projects again. For some reason I've been having trouble sticking to one thing.

I ended up restarting my Birds of a Feather Mystery Sampler. I decided to use 40 ct. Vintage Pecan Butter instead of the Lentil (or Navy Bean).

DSC_0023

I like it much better on the Pecan Butter. I decided to go darker after seeing Amy's pretty wip at our get together in Manning.

After working on the mystery sampler for a little bit I got Ann Grant (excuse the wrinkles) back out...

DSC_0016

And then when I got bored with Ann I got VoHRH back out. I have worked on this one the longest lately. The black fill in is making me a little bonkers! I'm determined to get this block done though.

DSC_0012

I'd love to be able to stick to one thing and stitch it! Maybe I can do that for awhile with VoHRH.

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has bought items from my stash sale!! I really appreciate it!! :) Hope you all are having a great start to summer!

A Gift and a Little Stitching

The kids are out of school (as of yesterday). I'm so proud of them both! They both got perfect grades and conduct (well Jake had satisfactory on self-discipline, but that's not a big surprise). Tomorrow is the big day of stitching at French Hen's with my friends and I can't wait!! It will be great to see everyone and it will be great to get away! The day after we're headed down to Florida for a few weeks.

I got a very sweet package in the mail the other day from Andrea. I sent her a chart and she wanted to send me something in return.

Gift from Andrea

She sent a very sweet little snippet bag that her friend made, some chenille trim, scissors and candle. Thank you again Andrea! I love it all!!

I have been stitching a little. I got Village of Hawk Run back out and finished block 9. Well, it's almost finished. I still have to put in the grass. I thought I'd wait on that because I always end up snagging my straight stitches.

After I finished the block I decided to get my Kind Fond Love Sampler back out. I forgot how much I love this sampler!

Startitis

Yeah, I've got it bad.

First I was going through Hawk Run withdrawals, so I got out my Hawk Run patterns and decided on one...

Village of Hawk Run Hollow
40 ct. Vintage Sand Dune by Lakeside Linens, Needlepoint Inc. Silk (1 over 2)

I picked Village. I just love this design. I started it awhile ago, but was unhappy with the linen (36 ct.). I'm much happier now that I'm using 40 ct. Only ... I really didn't want to stitch that graveyard again, so I'm skipping it for now.

As I was browsing blogs yesterday, I came across Deb's blog. I saw that she started Ann Grant, which I've had kitted before it even came out! I just couldn't resist myself. I had a piece of 40 ct. Summer Khaki that I got at Down Sunshine Lane, so I dyed it with some Tan Rit Dye...

Ann Grant Threads

... And got to stitching!

DSC_0009

I'm loving it!! This is one huge sampler though! It's going to take awhile! I'm also so tempted to start Susan Rambo, but I'm holding off for a just a bit. Not sure why - I think it's all the grass on the bottom (since I always start at the bottom). If those gorgeous flowers were on the bottom, I'm sure I would have started by now! :)

Well, I'm looking forward to stitching with all my friends in Manning on Saturday. It will be so great to see them. Maybe I'll bring Susan with me and start then. :) Write soon!

Now, I think I'm going to get back to Anniversaries of the Heart or maybe start something new (something that doesn't take at least a fat 1/4 of linen). :)

Shores Block Five and a Surprise!

Thank you all for your very kind comments on Paradise Lost! They really mean so much to me. And I do love "The Flood," but think I need a break from starting anything too big right now. Once I get Shores finished I plan to work on some smaller things for awhile. :)

Anyway, here is my progress on block five...

And the surprise came in the mail today.

I received this very sweet pincushion from Karen.

Shores Block 9 Finished!

I just finished this up today! I think this is my favorite block. I love everything about it, although I didn't love stitching those rocks! :)

DSC_0012

I only have two blocks to go now!

Many of you may have seen Paulette's gorgeous pictures of her recent visit to Shepherd's Bush. It's definitely my dream to visit the shop one day. It has been for about 14 years now! Anyway, I noticed their version of Long Dog Sampler's "The Token" in one of her pictures and loved it. I asked around and found out that they used Gloriana Rosewood. I had started The Token a long time ago, but didn't get far. I ended up using the linen for something else. So I decided to restart it the other day using Rosewood (I had a skein in my stash and ordered a few more, hopefully it matches).

I don't know why I'm on a Quaker kick lately. I have yet to finish a large Quaker sampler, but oh well, stitching is supposed to be fun, right?? :) Write soon!

Shores and More Knitting

I worked on Shores a little bit over the weekend...

DSC_0013

I also worked on my BFF sock. I'm down to the heel flap now!

DSC_0011
This sock isn't actually this bright!

Unfortunately I had to rip out my other socks. I messed up on the increase - I'll start over soon (I need to brush up on some basics - it's been awhile).

I also decided to start a scarf. I have always loved this scarf made by Brooklyn Tweed. I went through my stash and found the perfect yarn (yarn I was using for a couple of sweaters that I know I'll never finish).

Noro Scarf
Noro Silk Garden #86 and Cascade Lana D'oro Tweed #7619

Hopefully, I can get it finished and the sock finished soon! Write later!

Needlecrafts of all Sorts!

The rocks are finished! I was determined to get them done last night. Now I'm on to more solid stitching. A very nice change! Please excuse the wrinkles (too lazy to iron). :)

DSC_0012-1
40 ct. Summer Khaki (over-dyed with Tan Rit Dye), NPI silks.

I went up to Amy's yesterday as planned. We had a fun day - not a stitching day, but a knitting and crochet day. She has always wanted to learn how to knit, so I brought some yarn, needles, and a couple books up with me. I showed her the basics of casting on and the knit stitch. She was doing very well, but decided to crochet a little (which she is an expert at). She started on a dishcloth and finished it up in no time, and she gave it to me, which was very sweet of her!!

Dishcloth made by Amy

I love it! Thank you again Amy! I decided to get out my old BFF socks. I love the one I finished and really wanted to finish the second sock. I was stuck on the pattern though. I couldn't remember how I did the cable increase. I tried it and ripped and tried it and ripped some more. When I got home I finally figured it out.

BFF Socks

Hopefully, I'll be able to get them finished up soon!

In other news - I got a couple threads (still missing one - it's on back order with the dyer) I was needing for "Jane Tindall 1864." I just love this sampler. I hope to start it sometime in 2011. :)

Yummy silks...

Well, nothing else going on here! Just cleaning, so I can relax and stitch (or knit). Write soon!
