Knitting and a Little Stitching

Hi Everyone!  I'm so sorry it's been so long since I posted.  As I said before, I have been mainly hanging out on Instagram.  It's such a quick and easy way to share what I'm up to.

I have been knitting a lot lately and teaching myself new techniques.  Like making a sock from the toe-up and trying out a new heel - Fish lips Kiss Heel.  It's been a challenge!  I was not happy with the first sock I made.  The yarn was all wrong, so I started over yesterday and I'm loving it!

Cast on a new pair of socks. I wasn't not happy with that other pair. I'm loving this one! #knitting #sockknitting #toeupsock #sweetgeorgiayarns

I'm loving the funky colors in the sock! It's so much fun. I have had this yarn in my stash for several years, I bought when Sweet Georgia just started out on Etsy. #sockknitting #knitting #sweetgeorgiayarns

I'm so thankful to have great bosses that allow me to knit when it's not busy at work.  I couldn't have asked for a better job!

To see my knitting finishes for this year click here.  I have been stitching a little bit too.  I have been mainly working on Charlotte Clayton. I'm really close to a finish.

And here is the whole sampler so far. Not too much more to go! #charlotteclayton #reproductionsampler #crossstitch

I do plan to get back to it very soon!  I'd love to get it finished and framed this year!

Slowly Stitching

My Stitching time has been few and far between lately.  I have been very busy at work, so I haven't been able to sneak in a few stitches during slow times.  The main two projects I have been working on are "Charlotte Clayton" and "A Full Heart."

I also got a little stash in the mail from Down Sunshine Lane.  Blackbird Designs "A Rosy Morning" and the second part of Shepherd's Fold "My Home Fob."

To save a little money on the fold project I painted my own paper mache box black.  I hope it will look nice once it's all finished.

Well, that's all for now.  Hopefully, I'll have a finish to share one of these days!  Write soon!

More Works in Progress

Wow!  Three posts in three days!  I haven't done that in a long time.  I thought I'd share a few more things that I've been working on a lately.

I got a little bit more done on Frances Pool.  I'm done with the bottom part of the sampler now...

Next, I finished up the dog in the middle of Charlotte Clayton.  I keep putting this one down because of all the color changes.  I will get back to it soon though!

Last is Dorothy Walpole.  I got some of the eyelet stitches done above the bargello.  I definitely want to get back to this one soon too.

I hope you all have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Well, I said I was going to post and stitch more in the New Year and that really hasn't happened.  Things have been kinda stressful around here because we've been house hunting.  We found one that would be perfect for us - it has a great yard for the boys and lots of room inside.  We are negotiating for it right now, so my stomach is in knots!

I have been stitching a little.  I worked on Charlotte Clayton (sorry for the bad picture)...

I also got Ruth Bacheler by The Scarlet Letter back out...

34 ct. Cafe au Lait Legacy Linen (hand-dyed with coffee and/or tea), DMC threads

I got a new pattern in the mail today too!  It's Frances Pool by With Thy Needle & Thread.

I was thinking of stitching it on 40 ct. Lt. Examplar.  I think it's such a pretty sampler!

Well, if everything works out with the house, we'll be closing at the end of next month!  It will be here in no time - I have to start thinking about getting everything packed again!

Myrtle Beach

I had so much fun in Myrtle Beach!  The time went by way too fast.  It was so great to see my old friends and meet new ones.  The weather was gorgeous pretty much the whole time I was there...

View from Tanya's Room

Only, I didn't get down to the beach much.  I was too busy chatting and stitching.  I worked on Charlotte Clayton a little bit...

And I worked on a very sweet freebie that Tanya (The Scarlett House) designed for us.

I also picked up Christmastide from Tanya's booth (which I'm sad to say I don't have any pictures of) and this sweet little needlework set.

Amy, once again put together a wonderful retreat and I can't wait for next year.  I'll leave you with a picture of the goodies from our registration pack.  It was chock full of great things!  If you're reading this Amy, thanks again for all you do!  I only wish I had gotten more pictures (all that talking and stitching got in the way)! :)

One Month

Wow, I can't believe it's been a month since I've posted anything!  I have been stitching on a variety of things...

It's been hard for me to stick to one thing!

Well, it doesn't look like my husband will be able to transfer down to Tampa after all.  We were pretty disappointed that he couldn't find anyone that wanted to go to South Carolina (they don't know what they're missing out on)!!  We really like it there, we just wanted to be closer to family.  The main thing I'm happy about moving back is that the kids will be able to go back to their schools and I'll get to stitch with my Carolina friends again! We'll have to find another place to rent in South Carolina next month and then we'll most likely look to buy.

We'll miss Florida... it's definitely been fun to be near our family and old friends.  Speaking of which... I was able to meet up with Deb yesterday down at Golden Needle.  It was so great to catch up with her, have lunch and do some shopping. :)  We're also really going to miss the pool....

Weekend Stitching

I caught a cold last week, so I was feeling pretty miserable over the weekend.  I didn't go anywhere, I just sat on the couch and stitched.  I worked on a few different things...

Charlotte Clayton as of 5/27/12
40 ct. Vintage Sand Dune, NPI (1 over 2)

I finished the orange kitty and Eve on Charlotte Clayton.  I'm really loving this one!  It's such a fun stitch.

Dorothy Walpole as of 5/28/12
40 ct. Vintage Pecan Butter, AVAS and NPI (1 over 2)

Dorothy has been a little more difficult.  The lightest pink had very little contrast with medium pink.  I could barely tell them apart.  The dyelots have obviously changed since Glenna and Laurie stitched their samplers. I switched it out for a NPI I had.  It's not perfect, but it will have to do (since I tried just about every other pink silk in my stash). :)

Mary Roe
40 ct. Vintage Lt. Examplar, Belle Soie (1 over 2)

I started The Scarlett House's "Mary Roe 1808" back in March, but didn't put it on my blog because I only had a little bit of the border stitched.  I decided to get it back out and work on it some more.  I love the colors in this sampler, they're so bright and pretty!!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  I'll be finishing up packing this week.  I really don't have too much more to do.  Just a few dishes and then our linens and clothes.

After seeing some great Christmas Garden finishes (Katrina, Lois and Marsha to name a few), I decided to get my Christmas Garden back out...

And I worked on Charlotte Clayton a little bit.  I have the outline of the orange kitty stitched.

Speaking of kitties, I have to share a picture of Oreo, She was sleeping on a quilt my mom made years and years ago (all by hand).

Now For the Stitching!

I've been playing with some threads and linen for a few samplers I would like to stitch in the future. The first is "Lucy Redd" by Homespun Elegance. I love Elizabeth's version and she kindly shared her conversion to NPI silks.

DSC_0098

NPI for Lucy Redd

The linen I'm thinking of using is 40 ct. Vintage Meadow Rue.

Next is "Hannah Pepper." I started Hannah last year using NPI and then I realized there was an error in one of the magazines, which said the stitch count on one side was 265. It was actually 365. Ooops! I'm glad I only stitched a little bit. Since then, I have decided I would actually like to use the called for Soie d'Alger silks.

Hannah Pepper w/AVAS

And I had a cut of 40 ct. Lt. Examplar in my stash that was right size for the correct stitch count.

I got Blackbird Designs "Mother's Garden" from Down Sunshine Lane shortly after it was released. It's such a pretty design. I plan to use the same 40 ct. Vintage Lt. Examplar that I'm using for Christmas Garden.

Last, I got "Charlotte Clayton Sampler" in a trade from Andrea. I have loved this sampler for so long and was so happy when Andrea offered it to me.

I'm going to use the recommend NPI silks on 40 ct. Vintage Sand Dune. I decided to start it last night in honor of my new kitty, Oreo. I just love those big cats on the bottom.

I also have a little bit of progress on "Elizabeth Sheffield."

This little over one guy took me several hours to stitch!

Hope all you mom's out there have a wonderful day tomorrow! And thank you all for your kind comments on our upcoming move and Oreo. :)
