Eyelets

I got Dorothy Walpole back out and worked on some more Eyelet Stitches.  There seem to be hundreds of them!!  This was my progress on Monday...

I decided to take a little break from eyelets to start something small - May Word Play.  Here are the beautiful threads on the linen.

This was my progress as of yesterday...

Today, I let the boys play hooky and I took them up to Myrtle Beach to see their grandma and great aunt and to swim in the hotel/condo pool.  Check out this view!  It was a beautiful day, but very hot!  Thankfully, there were some indoor pools too!

I hope to get the May Word Play finished up soon and then get started on June (and get back to those eyelets too)!

More Works in Progress

Wow!  Three posts in three days!  I haven't done that in a long time.  I thought I'd share a few more things that I've been working on a lately.

I got a little bit more done on Frances Pool.  I'm done with the bottom part of the sampler now...

Next, I finished up the dog in the middle of Charlotte Clayton.  I keep putting this one down because of all the color changes.  I will get back to it soon though!

Last is Dorothy Walpole.  I got some of the eyelet stitches done above the bargello.  I definitely want to get back to this one soon too.

I hope you all have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!

It's Ours!

We had the closing on our house yesterday.  Everything went pretty well.  We are all so excited to get moved in.

Our new house

The house has 3 bedrooms plus a nice sized bonus room for the boys.  It also has a nice backyard and a playset for Matthew, which he really likes.

It has two great porches.  A front porch with rocking chairs, which they left for us.

And a screened in porch in the back.  We bought the patio furniture from them, which saved us a lot of money.  I just need to either recover the cushions, or buy some new ones.

Anyway, that's it!  We'll probably move sometime in the middle of March.  We need to do some cleaning and painting downstairs.  The kitchen is purple and the dining room is salmon.  Not my favorite colors.  I'm thinking of maybe a gray or greige. :)

I have been doing a little stitching too.  I have mainly been working on Dorothy Walpole...

Two Samplers

I have been working on two samplers this week.

Dorothy and Frances

Dorothy Walpole and Frances Pool.

Dorothy is bright and a little wild.

Frances is soft and a little subdued.

I love them both.  :)

One Month

Wow, I can't believe it's been a month since I've posted anything!  I have been stitching on a variety of things...

It's been hard for me to stick to one thing!

Well, it doesn't look like my husband will be able to transfer down to Tampa after all.  We were pretty disappointed that he couldn't find anyone that wanted to go to South Carolina (they don't know what they're missing out on)!!  We really like it there, we just wanted to be closer to family.  The main thing I'm happy about moving back is that the kids will be able to go back to their schools and I'll get to stitch with my Carolina friends again! We'll have to find another place to rent in South Carolina next month and then we'll most likely look to buy.

We'll miss Florida... it's definitely been fun to be near our family and old friends.  Speaking of which... I was able to meet up with Deb yesterday down at Golden Needle.  It was so great to catch up with her, have lunch and do some shopping. :)  We're also really going to miss the pool....

Weekend Stitching

I caught a cold last week, so I was feeling pretty miserable over the weekend.  I didn't go anywhere, I just sat on the couch and stitched.  I worked on a few different things...

I finished the orange kitty and Eve on Charlotte Clayton.  I'm really loving this one!  It's such a fun stitch.

Dorothy has been a little more difficult.  The lightest pink had very little contrast with medium pink.  I could barely tell them apart.  The dyelots have obviously changed since Glenna and Laurie stitched their samplers. I switched it out for a NPI I had.  It's not perfect, but it will have to do (since I tried just about every other pink silk in my stash). :)

Mary Roe

I started The Scarlett House's "Mary Roe 1808" back in March, but didn't put it on my blog because I only had a little bit of the border stitched.  I decided to get it back out and work on it some more.  I love the colors in this sampler, they're so bright and pretty!!

I hope you all had a great weekend!  I'll be finishing up packing this week.  I really don't have too much more to do.  Just a few dishes and then our linens and clothes.

A New Start!

Whenever I have a lot of stress in my life, I like to start new projects.  And they can't be small projects - they have to be big!  The bigger the stress, the bigger the project.  I got it in my head that I wanted to start The Scarlet Letter's Dorothy Walpole.  I think Laurie's framed finish put me over the edge!  The only problem was that everything was packed away.  The linen, the chart and the threads.  Well, that didn't stop me for long!  I dug them out and started right away.

I'm loving it!  Unfortunately, I had to frog about half of the border I stitched.  Somehow I got off in two places.  I'm back on track now and am working on all those eyelet stitches on the bottom.  I can't wait to get to the pretty flowers!

Last Saturday I went up to Amy's to say goodbye (for the summer, or until Myrtle Beach in the fall).  We had a very nice visit.  I can never resist getting a little stash while there from Down Sunshine Lane. :)

Stash!

Only one week until we head down to Florida.  I have almost everything packed.  I just have to do the kitchen and few other things.  I hope you all have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Dorothy Walpole

Another future start! Probably the very near future. I ended up unkitting Ann Smith to kit this. I just love this design!!

The linen is 40 ct. Vintage Pecan Butter and the threads are Soie d'Alger.
