STU Finished!

I found a little time to blog after all. That's only because I'm such a procrastinator and I am putting everything off to the last minute (as always). :)

I got the cookies baked - I made Swedish Pepparkakors (my grandma's recipe) for Bradley's heritage day. They turned out really good. Bradley and I are the only ones that like them though. They have a lot of spice (ginger and cloves).

I also got STU finished on Sampler of Stitches. There are some mistakes, mainly in the couching section, but I'm leaving them (at least for now). I don't have the time (or patience) to pull out anything and redo at the moment.

Well, now, I really need to get packing and get going. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!! :)

I finished up the model for Lisa the other day and got it mailed out yesterday. I'm so glad I was able to get it finished before I left for Florida!

I ended up getting The Drawn Thread's "Sampler of Stitches" back out and worked on it some...

I got all the "U" stitches finished. That buttonhole stitch on the bottom gave me lots of trouble. The Soie Perlee was not easy to work with. After three tries I finally got it in.

After I had enough of specialty stitches I decided to get back to "The Stockings."

I changed the darker green from Belle Soie Collard Greens to Creme De Menthe and I'm much happier with it now.

I only wish I had used darker linen so Santa's beard would show up better. Oh well, no starting over now!! :) Not sure when I'll be able to post again... I have Christmas Cookies to bake and bags to pack for our trip. It's going to be busy until Christmas. Just in case I don't get a chance to post before Christmas I want to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday! Be safe and have fun!! :)

This is The Drawn Thread's "Toccata Four." I fell in love with it after seeing Lynn's Beautiful finish. You must check out her whole album. Her stitching is just amazing!!

P.S. I decided to go back to my original size - it just wasn't looking right to me. :)

Sampler of Stitches Part 8 Finished!

I got part eight finished up today after ripping a few specialty stitches more than once. Chain stitches and I just don't get along!! But I finally got them in and left them in no matter what they looked like.

I also worked on Paradise Lost a little bit today. I worked on the tree next to the giraffe, but there wasn't enough progress to take a picture. I ended up putting it away to work on Sampler of Stitches again. I'm addicted to this sampler! :) Write soon!

Sampler of Stitches Part Nine Finished!

I worked on this after I posted yesterday. I'm loving it - all the specialty stitches are so much fun.

I Hope everyone has wonderful Mother's Day weekend! I don't have any plans. I just plan to stitch... and maybe get some of Carrabbas Chicken Marsala for dinner. Oh yum, I can taste it now! :)

New Start

I finished the model for Lisa today, so I decided to start something new! It's Drawn Thread's Sampler of Stitches. I really fell in love with this project after seeing Chi's finished Sampler. Her whole album is such an inspiration!

Silks for Drawn Thread Sampler of Stitches

I put a few stitches in yesterday after getting a few silks I was needing from It's a Stitch.

Small start on Drawn Thread Sampler of Stitches

And I put a few more in today...

I left the last number off the year because who knows when I'll actually finish. I am hoping it's sometime in the 2010's. :) I was going to use NPI silks, but decided to go with AVAS because they're a little thicker and thought they might work better on the 32 ct. linen.

Works in Progress

Wow, another post so soon! I got my car project (Jenny Bean's Christmas Sampler) out of the car today so I could take a picture of my progress...

I work on this when I'm waiting for my kids to get out school. It's a great car project. Hopefully it won't take me too much longer to finish. :)

I also got a start on CaHRH Block 5 yesterday. I'm loving this block so far!

I just love this peacock!

To steal Glenna's line again... I decided to "sample another sampler." This one is The Drawn Thread's "Toccata Number Five." It's a pattern darning sampler. I got a few motifs stitched. It's a little time consuming, so I've been stitching a little on CaHRH and then I do motif and then stitch a little more on CaHRH. It's a lot of fun, even if it does seem to take me forever!

Well, that's all my progress I have to share for today. Tomorrow I'm going to Amy's to go shopping at a couple quilt stores, have lunch and possibly get some stitching in before I head home. I'm so looking forward to it. I need a day out! Write soon!

More Love and Wisdom

I got a little bit more stitched on Love and Wisdom.

Love and Wisdom as of 9/27/09
32 ct. Natural Belfast Linen, NPI silk (1 over 2).

I didn't get a whole lot stitched because I spent a lot of the weekend cleaning and doing laundry and doing all the other stuff I do to get ready for the week. I'm feeling blah about it though because it's not Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow or Plum Street Samplers' Paradise Lost. I can't wait to get my hands on one of those patterns and start stitching! I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas!

Anyway, I got back out Kind Fond Love. I haven't worked on it in so long. I decided to work on the two guys with the grapes, instead of going back to all that grass! I hope to have a little progress pic tomorrow.

Write soon!

Love and Wisdom

Thank you everyone for your very kind comments on my "Happy Haunting" finish! I decided to get back out "Love and Wisdom" by The Drawn Thread. I got a few bands stitched last night.

Love and Wisdom as of 9/25/09

Well, I've got to get cleaning. We pick dh up at the airport in just a few hours! Write soon! :)

Another Drawn Thread Start

I couldn't resist starting this chart that I got from Katrina's Sale Blog. If you haven't been there yet, you must check it out. She's got some great deals! The chart is "Love and Wisdom." A long band sampler full of specialty stitches. I had all the the NPI and a cut of 32 ct. Natural Belfast that was the perfect size, so I thought "Why not?"

Love and Wisdom

I found out through Amy that these Rolaframe scroll frames are still being made and she's planning on carrying them in her shop. I was very happy to hear this. I like them better than the EZstitch frames because they are so lightweight and so easy to use!

I did stitch a little on "Finch Song" last night. Not really enough to show a pic. I'm just working on the hill. Lots of green! :) Write soon!

P.S. Thank you all for your very kind comments on my Riddle finish! :)

The Riddle is Finished!

I decided to be good and get "The Riddle" Finished up. This was such a fun stitch from beginning to end. I didn't get bored once! The only thing that bothered me were the tiny errors throughout the pattern. Nothing major, just enough to be an annoyance. So if you decide to stitch this, watch out for them!

The Riddle - finished at last! :)

Well, now I think I'll get back to "Finch Song." Or maybe I should be good again and work on "It's Berry Time?" Nah, I think I've been good enough for one day. :) Write soon!

Busy Weekend

I went up to Amy's yesterday to hang out for a little bit and stitch. It was very last minute and she was very sweet to let me intrude on her for a few hours. She even got me lunch (Zaxby's, my very favorite)! While I was there I got a few of the new Shepherd's Bush kits from her online shop Down Sunshine Lane. SB kits are my absolute weakness, next to Lakeside Linen. :)

The first is my favorite - I've been waiting for this one ever since I saw it after their retreat last year.

I'm actually thinking of using a different linen. Maybe Light Examplar (pictured underneath) instead of the R&R French Vanilla.

The next is a very sweet kit that comes with beautiful fabric, ric rac, and a very sweet pin (DMC threads and linen too).

And the last is another sweet and simple kit. I just love these tall pudgies. They are so cute.

Thanks A Lot

While at Amy's I worked on The Riddle a little bit. I'm getting very close to finishing! I'm also getting close to running out of the dark green thread. I may have to put it on hold until I can get some more.

The Drawn Thread "The Riddle"

I got this section finished up yesterday...

In other news.... Paulette the designer of Plum Street Samplers is having a great giveaway at her blog for her three year blogiversary. There is also a very nice freebie she designed for the occasion. Be sure to leave a comment! She is such a sweet person and a terrific designer!

And today is my baby Matthew's birthday. He's three today! I can't believe my baby is three! It seems like just yesterday that I was in the hospital with him. And now he's my little monster!

DSC_0026

But he's a sweet monster! We're going to have a quiet party at home for him. I'm going to make him a cake with "Wow Wow Wubbzy" figurines on top (his favorite cartoon). Well, hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. Write soon! :)
