More Kind Fond Love

I worked on KFL a little bit yesterday. I actually stayed up way too late watching the Bachelor finale. How dumb!! Anyway, I got the words stitched and a tree and a dog? Or is it a cat? I can't tell. Here's the before and after....

I also made a little progress on HoHRH on Saturday that I forgot to share.

Here's the fabric I got at Amy's to go with Mouline Rouge. I think I'm going to use DMC 498 like Sharon (scroll down) did. Her finish turned out so pretty!

Mouline Rouge

I had quite a bit of fabric leftover from the fat 1/2, so I decided to try to Vonna's Baking and Basting dyeing technique. I love how it turned out! I'm definitely going to use this technique again. Thanks Vonna for such great instructions!

I have also decided to join Paulette, Margaret and few others in a SAL. They have been stitching Scarlet Letter's "Ruth Bacheler 1717." I got the pattern a couple weeks ago. I'm planning on using 36 ct. Pearled Barley and DMC threads. I just love this one! It will be my first Reproduction Sampler!

Well, today is Titania Tuesday. I hope to make some more progress on her wings. Write later! :)

P.S. Thank you for all your very kind comments on Sea to Shining Sea!

Fabric Dyeing and Kitting

I'm still in a kitting mood. It must be like a moving/nesting thing. I'm getting ready for a new life and this how I prepare? Who knows what I'm thinking.

I went to my photoshop class and had a ton of fun. I learned more last night than any of the previous nights. I decided to upload a new template and I was playing with the header - trying different colors and fonts and shadows. I'll have to fix my sidebar items, but I'll have time to do that tonight or tomorrow. My citiwifi service has been touch and go. To upload any files I have to go out on the dock where I get the best service. My neighbors must think I'm nuts! :)

I was looking for some fabric to use for America (a pattern I just got from Amy at Down Sunshine Lane). Amy is going to be my neighbor soon! Well not really since she's about an hour and a half away, but it's better than not knowing anyone! I'm going to her house for a stitch-in later in June. I can't wait for that! I'm even thinking about going to the retreat they have at Myrtle Beach. We'll have to see how our financial situation is after we move though. It's going to be tight! I really want to go because Jane Timmers is going to be teaching this class, which I love!! Anyway, back to the fabric. I decided to dye some natural belfast using some tan rit dye. I really like how it turned out and I think it will be perfect for America.

This picture is a little light. But you get the idea...

I also kitted a couple Barbara Ana designs. I have yet to make a biscornu, but I'm determined to do so in the near future!

I used the bunny thread drops for this one since there are bunnies in the pattern. :)

Well, that's all for now. I'm still working on "Moire." I hope to have it finished soon! Write later!

More Dyeing

I'm truly obsessed now. I had to try the navy blue that dh bought. I wanted just a light blue though. So I tried just an 1/8 of a tsp and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I have been stitching on "Heart of America." I'm so close to being finished. I'm so sad to see it ending. I have really enjoyed stitching this one. Maybe I'll stitch it again someday - my dad did mention that he liked it! :) I don't have a pic though because there's really nothing to show since the last pic and I'm losing my light. My camera acts up when the sun starts to set.

Thank you all for your encouraging words on my fabric dyeing. It's a lot of fun and so easy - I highly recommend it. Well, my last photography class is tomorrow. Another thing I'm going to miss. It's been so much fun. I can't say that I have learned a whole bunch, but it has been fun being around a lot of people that love photography as much as I do. Here's my pic I'm planning on sharing tomorrow. Our assignment was to take a portrait shot. We were also supposed to do a photo story, but I'm kind of stuck on that. I'll have to think about it some more...

More Stitching and Fabric Dyeing

I finished up the stitching part of my "Wool Needlebook and Scissor Fob." I'm waiting to get some fabric before I do the finishing part. This will be my first needlebook. Wish me luck!

I have also been working on Sweet Treats. I am almost caught up. I just have to stitch the white dots in a couple blocks.

I used WDW Bright Leaf instead of Peanut Brittle, which I thought was too light. I also used the purple for the word "Tart" instead of the blue. I thought it showed up better.

I have also been doing some more fabric dyeing. I had dh pick me up a few boxes of Rit Dye powder and I dyed some scraps I had lying around.

It's amazing all the different combinations that can be done. I did all of these in the sink with hot water. I love the lightest pink. I think it turned out really pretty. :) Well, that's all for now! Write later!

Stitching, Kitting and Fabric Dyeing

I stitched some more on my scissor fob last night. I just have to do the trees and the house. :) It's so cute!

Wool Scissor Fob as of 4/27/08

I also kitted a some more CCN and LHN designs today...

LHN "The Bookshelf"
LHN "The Bookshelf" with DMC and 32 ct. Vintage Navy Bean by Lakeside

CCN "Bless Our Home"
CCN "Bless Our Home" with DMC and Crescent Colours and 32 ct. Lt. Mocha Belfast

There are more in my Flickr album. I went a little crazy! :) I went to Michael's to pick up a few threads I was missing and decided to get some Rit Dye. My mom said she heard Tan gives a vintage look, so I decided to try it out. I got some cheap evenweave to try it out on.

Cotton Evenweave dyed with Tan Rit Dye

I'm very happy with how it turned out. I just filled the sink with hot water and put a few dashes in. I soaked the fabric for about 10 minutes - if that. It looks a lot like tea-dyeing.

Well, not much else going on. The book I've been listening to (see sidebar) is so good! I haven't wanted to stop listening. I highly recommend it. Well, I'm off to listen and stitch now! Write later! :)

New Start and New Stash!

I decided to start "Rose Cottage" by Country Cottage Needleworks. I have always loved this pattern!

CCN "Rose Cottage"

I'm stitching it on 32 ct. Vintage Light Examplar linen. I switched out the CC Secondhand Rose for GAST Victorian Pink. It matched the darker pink a little better. I'm hoping I have enough because I got another skien at my LNS today and it doesn't match the one I have very well.

Another little thing I got at my LNS today...

Bunny Thread Holders
Bunny Thread Holders - Aren't they cute?? :)

I also got an order from Handcrafts Online today...

New Stash
CCN "Bless Our Home," My Mark "Sunshine & Shade," and LHN "Needlebook and Fob" and "Blackbird Inn."

And a small order from Elegant Stitch yesterday...

Quaker Heart and 40 ct. Fawn Linen
Shepherd's Bush "Quaker Heart" and 40 ct. Fawn Linen.

I also decided to tea-dye some Belfast linen I got at Michaels 50% off. I think it turned out ok!

Colonial Dry Goods

Here it is with the threads for "Colonial Dry Goods." I was also thinking of using it for "Counting House."

Counting House

The color sort of reminds me of Vintage Examplar or Sand Belfast. Not much else going on - I'm hoping to get some more stitching done! Write later! :)

A Few More Trees

I haven't been stitching too much. I've kind of gone fob crazy the past couple of days. The bead shop has captivated me! It's just too tempting and sparkly going in there to come out empty handed. I did get a little bit stitched on P&P.

Along with making fobs I coffee-dyed some more linen. I may try doing a couple more pieces again when I have more time to see if I can get them a little darker. The best way for me is to just do them in the sink and poor the coffee over them. I tried simmering them with grounds, but they turned out a little grey.

My dh is coming home tomorrow for about nine days! He has a trial that he has to testify in from when he arrested someone down here. So they are giving him off for that and his supervisor told him he didn't have to come back until Christmas when he goes on duty as a duty agent. That when they get their cases. And then I'll be going up there with kids for a week on the 29th. :)

Well, not much else going on. Matthew is sick. He's caught a bug of some kind. He's had a fever, coughing and runny nose. I just gave him some tylenol, so hopefully he'll go to sleep soon. The poor thing.

I'll leave you a pic of some of my fobs. I guess I need to put some up for sale, but I just hate to part with any of them. I get so attached! LOL! :) Write later!

Bored

You know I'm bored when I post twice in one day! I should be stitching, I want to be stitching, but I'm not, hmmm.... Anyway, I decided to try coffee dyeing some fabric. I really like how it turned out!

I just let soak in some coffee for about 15 minutes. I sprinkled some salt in the with it. I rinsed it out some, not too much. I didn't want to lose the color. That happened to me before. Anyway, I'm happy with it! The fabric was white Belfast and Cashel linen.

I also went to the bead store by my house today and picked up some beads. I made this fob for myself today. They had these crystals together in a pack and I fell in love. They are more autumn than winter, but I think they're pretty!

I also stopped by my LNS today. I really only needed threaders, but something else jumped in my hands...

Well, that's all. I'm going to stay away from the computer and fabric and anything else distracting! Write later (not today)! :)
