A Couple More Finishes

I made "Christmas is Forever" into a flatfold Friday night. I used Vonna's Tutorial, the instructions were very easy! Thank you Vonna! Don't look too close though because it's slightly crooked. It just didn't want to be straight. I gave up. :)

Christmas is Forever Flatfold

I also finished up my Flip-it Banner finally! It only took just under two years! I'm so glad it's done. I'm thinking of donating it to my son's kindergarten class because they are learning the months of the year. I would have to make it into a wall hanging of some sort though. That would require sewing - yikes! Maybe I'll think about this for a little bit. :)

Monthly Flip-It Bits Banner Finally Finished!!

Threads: DMC, WDW, & GAST

I got "Peppermint Lane" out this morning and got back to stitching it. I'm not getting too much done right now though. Dh went golfing, so it's me and the kids and the laundry! After I finish PL, I would like to stitch up Paulette's pretty freebie she posted on her blog. I pulled the threads and fabric for it yesterday...

Plum Street Samplers Freebie "Emmanuel"

Well, that's all for now. I've got to get back to the laundry! Write soon! :)

P.S. Thank you all for your kind comments on my framing. I pin mount when I frame my pieces (here is an article by Theresa Vinette - Scroll down "To Stretch" that is exactly how I frame). The lace on the distressed frame came like that. It's an old one from Hog River.

Back from Florida!

We drove down on my birthday Saturday and right when I got to my mom's house she gave me a gift certificate to my LNS down there. She knew I was wanting the fabric for "Sea to Shining Sea." I got the fabric (32 ct. Vintage Sea Storm) and started a little bit of it - just to make sure it looked ok! :)

LHN Sea to Shining Sea WIP

I also got a few other things...

Birthday Stash

My favorite fabric - 32 ct. Vintage Examplar, the new Praiseworthy Stitches chart "Simple Gifts - Love," and the Just Nan "Sizzle" pinwheel. I had gotten the tin, but not the pinwheel - I decided to get it now that I'm feeling a little more confident with my finishing skills after taking the class with Jane Timmers.

I also found the new Ginghers at Joann's while I was down there. I think they're so pretty...

Gingher Scissors "Sarah"

And I also finished a couple of things...

I really want to get this banner finished up this year (I started it last year). Just two more months and it will be done! and I got "Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle" finished. I plan to either finish it into an ornament or a pinkeep. :) Write soon!

A Bit of September Finished!

I got this finished up today while Matthew was taking a nap. I need a couple threads before I start October, which I'll hopefully get tomorrow.

Lizzie Kate "A Bit of Semptember"
Fabric: 32 ct. Glenshee
Threads: GAST, DMC, and WDW
Started - 10/11/07, Finished - 10/12/07

All together!

In other news - I got Matthew his first pair of walking shoes. They are just adorable! There's just nothing like a new pair of white Stride Rites to bring joy to the heart. I don't know what it is - they're a symbol. A passage from babyhood to toddlerhood. The shoes will always hold memories of sturdy legs toddling around. Anyway, I'm getting mushy, but all the moms out there will surely know what I mean! I'll post a picture tomorrow. :)

On to September!

I'm on a roll. I'm hoping to get September finished up tomorrow and then I don't have to rush so much to get October done. Thank you to everyone for your kind comments about my trip. I feel so lucky to know such kind and caring people!

Well, I'd better get some sleep! Matthew has been waking me up early lately! Write later!

Catching up!

I've neglected my Flip-it Bits for a few months and I'm trying to get caught up. I finished July, and just started August. If I can stick to it I should be caught up in a few days.

I forgot to mention that Deb brought me a very pretty sampler...

Thank you again Deb - I love it! :)

Another thing I forgot to mention is I'm going to California next week. I'm going to Elegant Stitch's retreat Chocolat. I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. I'll be gone for five days and it will be the longest I've left Matthew. I'm looking forward to getting away though. I think it will be a lot of fun! I went a few years ago and had a blast. My SIL is coming with me. She's not stitching, but she wanted to come because she's never been to San Francisco. So we're going to stay two days there, so we can see the sights. It should be fun, but I am going to miss my babies! :)

  2. CHS Alphabet - Finish Deer and Elephant. - I got Deer Finished.

  4. DT Sunflower Bellpull - Finish House Section. - Not quite, almost.
  5. Pomegranate Sampler - Finish Right Border. - Yes!
  6. My Earth - Finish up bands under sheep. - Yes!
  7. HoHRH - Finish up House #1. - Yes!

My goals for July are...
  1. My Earth - Work on floral arch above Pudgie
  2. LK FIB - Get July Finished
  3. VoHRH - Finish up block #12
  4. CHS Alphabet - Finish Elephant
  5. HS PS - Finish Left Border

  7. HoHRH - Finish House #2

Hopefully I'll be able to get that done this month! I was also thinking of concentrating on the three I have almost finished - My Earth, Pomegranate Sampler, and Sunflower Bellpull. I'd love to get those finished up!

Well, not much going on here. I had a nice weekend with dh and I was sad to see him go. We had good news though. He may get stationed in Sarasota, which is about an hour South of us. That would be so much better than Charleston! Hopefully it will work out! Write later! :)

May is Finished!

I got "A Bit of May" finished up the other day. I ended up leaving the Beehive out because I just didn't like it. I think it turned out pretty cute! :)

"A Bit of May"

Flip-It Bits Jan. - May

I got a pattern in the mail the other day from Becky. It's Polly Wolly Doodle by La-D-Da. I'm going to send her "Their Song" in exchange when I get it finished. Her finished piece turned out so cute that I've decided to copy the threads (GAST) and fabric (36 ct. Flax) she used (hope you don't mind Becky)! :)

Well, this is going to be short - Jake is needing me! Write later!

Lazy Sunday

I took a shower and put clean pajamas on. It's just one of those days to laze around. I have been cleaning and doing laundry. But I've also been watching some baseball games (Tampa Bay lost and the Braves are losing unfortunately). I've also been reading my blogs. I saw that Andrea has started Drawn Thread's Sanctuary. Her stitching is so neat and pretty. She is really an inspiration to me! It made me remember that I've had Sanctuary kitted forever! So I got it out and pulled the silks and linen and took their picture because they are so pretty!

Drawn Thread Sanctuary with silks and fabric

Caron Collection and NPI Silk with 32 Ct. Elegant Bean Linen

The fabric is 32 ct. Elegant Bean from Elegant Stitch. I don't think I'm going to start this now, I was just in the mood to look at it. :)

I did go stitching yesterday. I signed up for a thing they do called "Stitches & Wishes." We have a secret partner and once a month we get them something off their wish list. I got a $20 gift certificate, which was very nice! And I'm in the process of getting their package together. I love doing stuff like this. I think I almost like giving a package more than receiving one. It's fun to get all the little goodies together. Anyway, I did pick up a new chart and a couple of silks while I was there...

A Diminutive Dutch Sampler

silks for Diminutive Dutch Sampler on 40 ct. R&R linen.

It's Barrick Samplers (now Carriage House Samplings) "A Diminutive Dutch Sampler." I'm missing one silk, which I'll probably get tomorrow. The fabric is the 40 ct. R&R I got from Handcrafts Online. It's so funny because Niky just posted her finished sampler today. What a coincidence!

I did stitch a little while I was there. I thought I would work on "A Bit of May." May is one of my favorites out of all the months. I love the color combinations.

"A Bit of May"

Well, not much else going on here. Bradley is finally over the stomach bug he had. He was able to eat normal food today. I'm still hoping no one else gets it!! Thank you everyone for all your nice comments, they really mean a lot! :) Write later!

Stitching up a Storm Today!

Well, I went stitching today. I stayed for about 3 hours and got a lot of my March Flip-it Bit done. When I got home Matthew crashed, so I stitched a little more.

A little more progress on a Bit of March

While stitching March I got the urge to start Blackbird Designs "Their Song," so I did!

Another pic. of my new start - Blackbird Designs "Their Song."

I was also inspired to start when I saw these in my yard...

Blackbird

There were two of them, but I couldn't get close enough for a decent pic. While stitching I picked up a couple things...

Couple things I got at Nantz's Needlework.
Mary Garry's "Milkpaint Sampler" and Papillon Creations "Simple Little Quaker."

The picture of the Mary Garry sampler does not do it justice. I saw one finished on an Asian website. Click here to view.

I also stopped at the yarn shop on my way up stitch. I had never been in before because I usually have the kids with me and I hate dragging them into places like that. Anyway, I got a few skiens of sock yarn.

Lorna's Laces sock yarn - baby stripe colorway.
Lorna's Laces - Baby Stripe.

Lorna's Laces in the Watercolor colorway.
Lorna's Laces - Watercolor.

They only had one of the 2nd colorway, so I'll have to make some ankle socks. :) I love Lorna's Laces - it's the same yarn I'm using for these socks...

One Finished sock and one WIP sock as of 12/17/06

Well, I think that's enough blogging for one day! I'm ready for bed! Write later! :)

A Small Finish!

I finished up my Lizzie Kate February Flip-it Bit this morning. I tried to finish it last night, but I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer! :)

O.K. I lied...

I couldn't resist starting something new after I finished up Nature's Beauty. I thought I would be good and work on my Lizzie Kate Flip-It banner, so I started February (I'm obviously way behind).

A Bit of February

And while I was stitching February I got to thinking about all the cute Geranium House Wips I've been seeing lately and decided to start it myself! I cut the fabric around 10:15 pm last night, so I didn't get much done...

Geranium House Started 4/2/07

I'm already loving it though! I just love these designs for their simplicity and pretty colors. Anyway, I don't know how much I'm going to get done tonight... I'm so tired! Getting back on schedule along with Matthew's new activeness and helping my mom with Halle is just wearing on me! Hopefully I'll be better tomorrow?? Write more later! :)

P.S. Thank you to everyone for you kind comments on Nature's Beauty!

A bit of January - Finished!

I finished this little design up tonight...

A Bit of January

Now I just need February! :)

I have decided that my next big project (like I don't have enough of those going already) will be Celtic Banner. I actually started this years ago. I sold it to someone and they were very happy to have it and finish it. I have kicked myself so much for letting go of that project. And lately I've really been contemplating it and admiring others that have been stitched. So I ordered the pattern (again) and 32 ct. Lambswool Jobelan to stitch it on. I'm hoping it will look nice on it - I'm now wondering if I should've gone with linen. I don't know?? I was possibly thinking of tea-dyeing it. Anyway, here are the DMC threads the pattern calls for...

DSCN1984

Aren't they gorgeous?? I think Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum is a genius when it comes to color and color combinations. I can't wait to get started (again).

P.S. I don't normally post twice in one day, but the kids went bed really early tonight, so I've found myself with a lot of very unusual free time on my hands. I really should get to bed also because since they went to bed early that probably means they'll be waking up early!! :) Write later!

A bit of January - Flip it Bits
Originally uploaded by nevillen.

I'm doing them on one long piece of fabric (the other half of my 32 ct. natural Glenshee that I'm using for my Sunflower Bellpull). I picked up the pattern yesterday at Silk Road Needlearts. They didn't have February, so I may have to get it Saturday at JoAnne Nantz's. I saw she had one there last weekend. I also got a couple sets of Q-snaps (8x8 & 11x11). I had some, but my oldest ds liked to use them to make shapes and musical instruments and when I went to put them together before we moved I couldn't get any to match, so I ended up throwing them away - don't ask me what happened to the missing pieces!! Well, baby is waking up - write later!!
