Taking Pictures

Kim asked the trick to taking good pictures. I think I the main thing is natural light. It makes a world of difference. For example...

My Needle's Work

The two pictures above were taken today in natural light. The two from the previous post were taken at night under my Ott-Lite. There's a huge differnce! I was also very fortunate that my dh got me a nice camera for Christmas. It's a Nikon D40. It's big and slightly bulky, but I love it. And I still need to learn a ton about. I also set the ISO to 1600, which really makes the stitching stand out. Don't ask me what ISO means, I just know it's an option. I'll have to look into that a little more. :) Like I said I really don't know much, but I do know natural lighting makes all the difference! I'd love to take a class one day. Well, I'm watching all the kids, so I'd better go! Write later!

And a Little More Garden Girl

I couldn't resist stitching on it a little more yesterday and today. I'm already ignoring my rotation and it's only been a few days! :) I'm hopeless!

I also got "My Needle's Work" in the mail today. I can tell this is going to be one of my next starts! I love it! :)

"My Needle's Work" by Little House Needlworks

I'm so excited because I was able to sign up with Net Library today. I had to go to a library in my county, which wasn't too close, to sign up. I'm so glad I made the trip because it's so worth it! They have a ton of books I want to listen to. I just downloaded "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. After I listen to it I'd love to see the movie. It looks so good. I think just the costumes alone would make it worth seeing. Write later! :)

A Little More Garden Girl

Garden Girl
CCN "Garden Girl" stitched on 32 ct. Lambswool Jobelan using DMC and one CC.

I'm loving this one! It's so much fun. :) I think I may stitch on it a little more today.

For those of you wondering about Quaker Christmas it's stitched on 40 ct. vintage Exampler over two using one strand of Belle Soie silk. The colors I'm using is Cranberry, Collard Greens and Butterscotch, which I totally copied from Merumo. Trust me, I rarely come up with these things on my own! LOL! :) The only difference is the linen. She used 40 ct. Vintage Basketweave.

Well, not much else going on today. Just laundry and hanging out with the kids and a little stitching hopefully in between! Write later! :)

Some Words

I finished up the words on Garden Girl today. I worked on it while listening to a new book. "The Right Attitude to Rain" by Alexander McCall Smith. I love these Isabel Dalhousie books. It makes me want to move to Edinburgh, or at least visit. I checked ticket prices, they're over $1000. I won't be going anytime soon. :) Here is my progress on Garden Girl...

CCN Garden Girl as of 2/26/08

Well, I just can't keep track of my hours while stitching. I'm always jumping up to get the kids something, or I will think of something I need to check online, or dh will call. It's just impossible. So I was thinking about going back to a daily rotation, but one day just isn't enough. It's too fast, you don't get to concentrate on one thing long enough. So I was thinking about a two day rotation. That would be about five hours for me. Give or take an hour or two depending on the day. So I made up a daily rotation sheet. Here's a link to download if anyone is interested...

Well, I'd better get to sleep. I haven't been getting up as early as I would like lately. The snooze button and I are way too familiar. Poor Matthew every time it goes off he stands up in his crib and then when I shut it off he lays back down and this is repeated for about 30 minutes until I finally get up. I must try to get up when it goes off the first time! I wish I could be one of those people that get up at five before anyone else - I guess I'm more of a night owl. Anyway, off to bed! Write later! :)

Garden Girl

Since my eyes were so tired last night I decided to start Country Cottage Needleworks "Garden Girl." I worked on it until 11:30 pm and almost finished up "Queen of Swords" by Sara Donati. I ended up finishing it this morning. It was a great book. I'd love to find the other books on CD in the series. Anyway, here's what I got done on Garden Girl last night.

Garden Girl

My pastel fob matches pretty well I think. :) The fabric is 32 ct. Lambswool Jobelan and the threads are DMC. Thank you all for your very kind comments on my P&P finish! :) Write later!
