Christmas Stitching

I stayed home from work Friday because I caught a cold (thanks hubby).  The good news is, I was able to get a lot of stitching done.  The bad news is, I couldn't do a video because of all the sniffing and sneezing, so this blog post will have to do. 

I finished all of the Lizzie Kate ornaments from the Tiny Tidings XXII leaflet. I had so much fun stitching these.  I used 28 ct. Monaco that I tea and coffee dyed and the called for threads (except I used DMC B5200 instead of Weeks Whitewash). 

I mounted these on sticky board and then sprayed the back with Aleene's Tacky Spray and then put the little ribbon on the back and then the wool felt.  I cut the wool felt along the edges with pinking shears.  They were so easy! 

I stitched and finished the 1989 Prairie Schooler santa from the Santas Revisted II leaflet.  I also used 28 ct. tea and coffee dyed Monaco using DMC thread (2 over 2). I was going to make this into an ornment, but it turned out so big.  I ended up mounting it on mat board and then mounting another piece of mat board with fabric and sticking them together with the tacky spray. I clipped it to this frame I got at Hobby Lobby. 

My Lizzie Kate Christmas ABC's are less than halfway done and I think I'm going to put it away until next year.  I also restarted Lizzie Kate's 4 Seasons.  I was originally going to do them all on one piece of fabric and changed my mind after seeing Priscilla's finished individually.  She has them displayed on a stand that can be found at Hobby Lobby or Michaels and I'd like to see if I can find one like it. I think they look so cute!  

Lastly, I have been working on my Smith Sampler by The Scarlett House.  I'm determined to get it finished soon!  I just need to get the top section and border finished.  I'm getting there!

With Bradley starting college next fall, I'm going to really try to stitch from my stash in 2018.  I have a lot of samplers in my stash kitted and ready to go, so we'll see if I can do it! I picked this pattern up at a shop in Florida. I thought it was so cute and a change from the repros I've been stitching. I'm getting sooo close to being finished with Sarah. I hope to finish her sometime this week!!

Christmas Rules Start

Here is my promised picture of Christmas Rules. I worked on it quite a bit yesterday - I finished the top freebie border and got a small start on the first block - "Be Kind."

32 ct. Lt. Mocha Belfast, WDW and CC threads.

I also got a small start on the fourth AotH block...

I'm not sure how I'm going to personalize this one. I think I may put my nephew Harrison's name in there (he was born on 3/16). But that makes me wonder if I should now put my niece's name in the February block since she was born on 2/3 and then maybe stitch one of the samplers from the Honeysuckle Manor book for my great-grandma. Maybe I should have waited until the end to personalize!! :)

And I worked on some more filling in on Rubie Owl's Sampler...

Last, but not least... On December 4th, there will be a stitching get together in Manning, SC. It will be at The French Hens restaurant again. It was so much fun the last time we went in August. So I'll be doing some frogging later. I just got a package in the mail from Lisa (The Primitive Needle). So if you don't hear from me for a little bit it's because I'm working on a model (to be released this fall). The colors are beautiful - it's a great design. I can't wait for you all to see it!

Coffee Pillows

I decided to make a couple pillows with some of the leftover squares from my Bistro Layer Cake. I got out "Love My Coffee" by Lizzie Kate and "Caffe Latte" by LHN. Bradley (my nine year old) helped me pick out the fabric for both of these! He has a good eye for color.

I also worked on my Sampler Stocking a little bit. I have been working on it exclusively - I really want to get it finished up soon!

Another Quick Finish

I got Plum Street Sampler's freebie "Emmanuel" finished up last night. Ok, I admit it, I cheated. I tacky glued the cording on. I normally wouldn't have done that, but it was late and I was getting frustrated! Anyway, here's the pic...

I ended up using 40 ct. linen that I Rit-Dyed recently. I was going to use the 36, but I'm not a big fan of 36, it's too loose a weave for me. I like denser fabrics. I also finished up my Lizzie Kate banner today. I cheated on that also. I hemmed it using Stitch Witchery, which is my new best friend!

I'm going to give it to my son's teacher today at his class party. Well, that's all for now! We're going down to Florida tomorrow and I have lots of packing and cleaning ahead of me! Fun, fun! Write in a few days!

Stash and a Quick Finish!

tI got a wonderful package from DSL yesterday. I got a few things with the money from my recent sale. I love paypal! :) I got Shepherd's Bush kits "Glad Tidings" and "Queen Sheep."

The quick finish is Lizzie Kate's "Santa Wants to Know." I started it last night and finished it today and actually finished it into a cube-it today. I think it turned out pretty cute!
