I Spoke Too Soon...

Matthew got sick again last night. I think it was the milk. I should have held off giving him milk for a couple more days. Oh well, live and learn. I did work on "Home of a Needleworker (Too!)" a little bit last night. It's such a fun design (like all CCN and LHNs are). :)

I'll probably be rotating this one and Family Sampler. I'm so excited about the new designs Diane has coming out. They sound wonderful! I think tomorrow she'll put up the pictures for the May releases. Can't wait! :)

Roses for mom

Here is the whole bouquet of roses that I gave my mom for mother's day. Can you tell she loves white? Her whole living room is white. White furniture, white walls. It's a great room for taking pictures.

All Better

Everyone is doing much better, Thankfully! I have been trying to get back into our routine. I got the stitching back out and finished the border on "Family Sampler" by Shepherd's Bush. I think I'm going to really love this one. I love the colors...

I got my mom a dozen white roses (her favorite color). I took a picture of one today. They are really starting to get pretty now that they're opening up.

Well, I'm going to get back to my stitching! :) Write later!

Photo Story

I didn't have a photo story picture yet, so I told Jake to throw on some shorts and go out to the dock with Mindy (the nice dog) and I would take his picture. This was the first picture I snapped and I loved it...

My instructor liked it, so I was happy. It was our last class tonight. My SIL is thinking of taking a photoshop class and I was thinking of maybe taking it with her. I would miss the last class if I moved when I was planning on moving. I could delay the move by a week or just miss the class, or just not take it. I'm still trying to decide. My mom said she would pay for it if I wanted to go, so that was good! Anyway, I'm blabbing now. I should have pictures to post of stitching tomorrow. I have been stitching... slowly, but surely. :) Write later!

More Dyeing

I'm truly obsessed now. I had to try the navy blue that dh bought. I wanted just a light blue though. So I tried just an 1/8 of a tsp and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

I have been stitching on "Heart of America." I'm so close to being finished. I'm so sad to see it ending. I have really enjoyed stitching this one. Maybe I'll stitch it again someday - my dad did mention that he liked it! :) I don't have a pic though because there's really nothing to show since the last pic and I'm losing my light. My camera acts up when the sun starts to set.

Thank you all for your encouraging words on my fabric dyeing. It's a lot of fun and so easy - I highly recommend it. Well, my last photography class is tomorrow. Another thing I'm going to miss. It's been so much fun. I can't say that I have learned a whole bunch, but it has been fun being around a lot of people that love photography as much as I do. Here's my pic I'm planning on sharing tomorrow. Our assignment was to take a portrait shot. We were also supposed to do a photo story, but I'm kind of stuck on that. I'll have to think about it some more...

The Poor Girl Has No Head....

The Sampler Lady as of 3/26/08

I will definitely have to fix that today! :)

My SIL and I are taking a photography class starting April 8. It's every Tues. for five weeks. She just got a new camera kind of like mine, but a canon. Well, we are both pretty clueless on how to use them. Other than using the point and shoot features. I'm looking forward to it. I think it will be fun. It will be good to get out of the house once a week and learn something new at the same time. Well, not much else! Write later! :)

Taking Pictures

Kim asked the trick to taking good pictures. I think I the main thing is natural light. It makes a world of difference. For example...

Garden Girl as of 3/3/08

My Needle's Work

The two pictures above were taken today in natural light. The two from the previous post were taken at night under my Ott-Lite. There's a huge differnce! I was also very fortunate that my dh got me a nice camera for Christmas. It's a Nikon D40. It's big and slightly bulky, but I love it. And I still need to learn a ton about. I also set the ISO to 1600, which really makes the stitching stand out. Don't ask me what ISO means, I just know it's an option. I'll have to look into that a little more. :) Like I said I really don't know much, but I do know natural lighting makes all the difference! I'd love to take a class one day. Well, I'm watching all the kids, so I'd better go! Write later!

Not Much Stitching....

I love having my dh home, but he's really cutting into my stitching time! :) Matthew being sick hasn't really helped matters either. He's been waking up very early around 4 or 5 am crying and coughing. This morning he woke throwing up a little because of all the phlegm. The poor guy. Waking up so early has left me exhausted at night. I've been going to sleep around 9 pm. I do have some good news. My husband checked out my wish list on Amazon and he actually bought me something from it. I was so shocked, I never thought I would get it. It came yesterday and he let me open in early.

It's a Nikon D40. I just can't tell you how much I love this camera and how much I have to learn about it. I've been experimenting with all the different settings. Here are some pictures I took of the kids...

And some pictures of my stitching...

I'm still experimenting with what's the best setting for taking pictures of my stitching. I think good lighting is key. Some of you may notice the fob - I kept one for myself too! :)

Well, I've got to finish getting Bradley ready for school. Write later! Hopefully with some stitching progress to share! :)
