Blackbird Designs Start and AotH

I ended up starting Blackbird Designs "Blessings and Kind Wishes." I have loved this design for a long time. The only thing I'm not loving is the 30 ct. linen. I'm so used to 40 ct. and I'm so used to using one strand of thread that I'm thinking of starting over (I know, crazy). I may set it aside for now and decide later.

I also got back to my Anniversaries of the Heart. I'm working on the March block.

I think I'm going to put my oldest son's name on this block. His birthday is actually in June, but the June block is pretty girly, so I might just put my family where I think they look best instead of what the month actually is.

I substituted WDW Beige for GAST Harvest Basket in the windows. I thought it gave a little bit more contrast.

AotH

Well, nothing else going on here!! Just hanging out with Matthew and doing laundry, which I always seem to be doing! :) Write soon!

  2. OH I love it! It does make such a difference in working with a larger linen and a bit thicker floss. I'm looking at a pattern now and deciding on 28 count over one right now.

    Your AotH is absolutely beautiful!

  3. Oh...I think I have this one in my stash. This could be dangerous.

Also...a BIG congratulations for finishing Shores. I have followed many stitchers with this piece and am in awe every time I see a picture of it. I would never begin to attempt such a chart and you must be absolutely elated!!

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing!

  7. Nicole, I totally understand what you mean about 30ct versus 40ct. It is nice to stitch on a bigger ct, but it doesn't look the same. And two threads of floss??? What a hassle :-) I am sure it will look beautiful no matter what you do. Your stitching is just gorgeous. I love your AoTH also.

  8. You aren't the only crazy girl! I'm on the same boat - Im spoilt with just one strand on 40ct ;) I've stitched that BBD's LF some time ago and I enjoyed a lot. The houses are coming along very nice.

  11. Beautiful stitching. The ideas you have for your pieces are also great.
I know what you mean about the laundry....it never seems to go away.

  12. Beautiful stitching!

I know what you mean about switching count. I have been using 1 strand on 35/36 ct so it feels weird when I have to use 2 strands.

  16. Love your progress on AotH. I can't wait to get to March if only for the bunny! I like how you changed the windows, I agree it looks great.

I have a few newer projects that I've started lately and they are all using only 1 strand. I also have a few that are using 2, it's so hard when I go back to them. I'm beginning to see the allure of over 1 on say 28 ct.

  17. Your AotH looks great, Nicole! I did the same thing--personalized blocks according to where I thought the blocks best fit the person rather than according to the month.

Nice start on your other BBD! I have that in my stash--and the 30 ct fabric--and haven't started it mostly because of the 30 ct issue. Once I get going, I'm okay, but I get very fussy about the way my threads lie.

  20. Your AotH is looking beautiful! I know what you mean about going from one to two strands. I'm stitching Emma using two and my stitches seems so clunky after using only one strand for several projects. They just don't seem to lay as neatly as I remember.

  22. I know just what you mean about your new start. I love using 1x1 on 40ct and now when I end up doing 2x2 on a lower count it just seems so huge and so think.
    Lovely progress on your AotH.
