Christmas Stitching

I stayed home from work Friday because I caught a cold (thanks hubby).  The good news is, I was able to get a lot of stitching done.  The bad news is, I couldn't do a video because of all the sniffing and sneezing, so this blog post will have to do.

I finished all of the Lizzie Kate ornaments from the Tiny Tidings XXII leaflet. I had so much fun stitching these.  I used 28 ct. Monaco that I tea and coffee dyed and the called for threads (except I used DMC B5200 instead of Weeks Whitewash).

I mounted these on sticky board and then sprayed the back with Aleene's Tacky Spray and then put the little ribbon on the back and then the wool felt.  I cut the wool felt along the edges with pinking shears.  They were so easy!

I stitched and finished the 1989 Prairie Schooler santa from the Santas Revisted II leaflet.  I also used 28 ct. tea and coffee dyed Monaco using DMC thread (2 over 2). I was going to make this into an ornment, but it turned out so big.  I ended up mounting it on mat board and then mounting another piece of mat board with fabric and sticking them together with the tacky spray. I clipped it to this frame I got at Hobby Lobby.

My Lizzie Kate Christmas ABC's are less than halfway done and I think I'm going to put it away until next year.  I also restarted Lizzie Kate's 4 Seasons.  I was originally going to do them all on one piece of fabric and changed my mind after seeing Priscilla's finished individually.  She has them displayed on a stand that can be found at Hobby Lobby or Michaels and I'd like to see if I can find one like it. I think they look so cute!

Lastly, I have been working on my Smith Sampler by The Scarlett House.  I'm determined to get it finished soon!  I just need to get the top section and border finished.  I'm getting there!

40 ct. Vintage Meadow Rue, silk threads (1 over 2)

With Bradley starting college next fall, I'm going to really try to stitch from my stash in 2018.  I have a lot of samplers in my stash kitted and ready to go, so we'll see if I can do it! Hope you all have a great Christmas and Happy New Year.  We'll be headed down to Florida at the end the week, so I'll will be back with a video in the new year!

Souvenir of Paris Finished!

I finished my first Blackbird Designs stocking today!! It wasn't too hard. Just don't look too closely because it's definitely not perfect!!

BBD Souvenir of Paris

This is the backing fabric I used. I thought it was perfect for it. I decided to use just a simple ribbon for a hanger.

Blackbird Designs "Souvenir of Paris" from the Joyeux Noel book
Fabric: 30 ct. St. Valentine's Blend by R&R
Threads: GAST and WDW (2 over 2)
Started: 1/28/11 - Finished: 2/2/11

Now, I plan to get back to Shores or Paradise Lost, whichever one calls to me the loudest. I would LOVE to get both of them finished by the end of this month. We'll see if I can actually do it! :)

I'm Home!

Well, I actually got home yesterday around 12:30 pm. I was going to stay later and do some stuff around Myrtle Beach, but decided to get home to babies instead! :) They were all happy to see me and I was so happy to see them. Distance (even for a couple days) definitely makes the heart grow fonder. :)

My dh is such a sweetie - he had the house all clean and the dishes done, so all I had to do was get lunches ready for the coming week.

Anyway, I promised to share pics of my exchange pieces. Here is what I gave...

I had stitched it awhile ago, but never got around to finishing it, so I decided to finish it for the gift exchange. I only took it apart three times - I just could not get it right - it's still not perfect, but oh well. Michele ended up getting it in the end (she traded with someone to get it). :)

I actually got Michele's pin cushion in the end, but someone asked me to trade (she really wanted it, so I reluctantly said yes), but it wasn't a bad deal because I ended up getting Karen's sweet little Shepherd's Bush pin cushion.

And speaking of Michele and Karen they gave me a surprise package when I arrived! In it was a very nice card and this adorable pin cushion made by Michele and scissor fob made by Karen (attached to my Premax scissors). Thank you both so much!! It really made my day!

Well, I still can't believe how fast the weekend went and now it's. Back to reality and back to cleaning and doing laundry (Matthew decided to destroy the house today - it's amazing how fast he can do that). Write soon!!

I can't believe I leave tomorrow! I can't wait! I haven't gone anywhere by myself, overnight, in about two years. I desperately need this mini vacation!! Write later with pictures from Myrtle Beach! :)

Framing!!

I went to A.C. Moore and Michael's today to get some framing supplies. I found some unfinished frames at A.C. Moore and went to Michael's for foam core because Michael's will cut it for you. So here is what I framed, and I warn you they're no where near perfect, but they're good enough for now! :)

CHS "Miss Lila's House"

Miss Lila's Frame was unfinished and I painted it a dark brown.

This frame was unfinished and I painted with a black paint called "Wrought Iron"

Since I finished CaHRH yesterday I decided to start something new. Thank you all for your very kind comments on my finish!! They mean so much to me!

DSC_0034

It's Shakespeare's Peddler's "Sarah Woodham 1770." I have been wanting to start it for a long time now, but I made myself wait until I finished CaHRH. I'm using the recommended silks on 40 ct. Vintage Pearled Barley. I'm loving it so far!! I love the colors!

Well, that's all for now! Write soon! :)

More Block 9 Progress

I got a little bit more stitched on block 9.

DSC_0002

I actually had to frog the little wreath because I didn't even notice that there was yellow in it until after the fact.  I don't know how I completely overlooked the little "m" symbol.

Michele let me know that she received her ornament today.  I stitched Little House Needleworks "Baking" for her.

Ornament for Michele

I used 40 ct. Vintage Light Examplar by Lakeside Linens using the Crescent Colours threads that came in the thread pack.

Tomorrow I'm going to Amy's for a much needed break.  We plan to stitch the day away!  I'm so looking forward to it!  Write soon! :)
