I'm Home!

We got back last night after 8 pm - traffic was terrible! I'm glad to be home - I've been playing in my stash today. Looking at all the things I want to stitch in 2011. The list is very long!! :)

I ended up starting something new on Friday...

32 ct. Willow Green Belfast. CC, GAST & DMC threads (2 over 2).

It's "Belle Pepper" by Little House Needleworks. The lighting was not so great at my in-laws, so I thought this would be a good stitch because it's on 32 ct. I'm glad I brought it with me. I stitched a lot in the car on the way home yesterday while listening to Vanish by Tess Gerritsen. It's so good - I wish I could speed up the narrator so I could find out what happens next. :)

Stitching on the Road

On the way down to Florida I got block #3 of Shores stitched.

Shores block 3 finished!

And last night I worked on my CHS Alphabet. I haven't worked on it in over a year.

CHS Alphabet

I finished up "Horse."

36 ct. Examplar by Lakeside Linen, GAST threads (1 over 2).

Sorry for the bad pics - they were taken on my iPhone. I hope everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving. My mom made dinner and it was wonderful!! I went back to my in-laws and crashed. I woke up, ate some pie and stitched a little bit and then crashed again. :)

Sarah Woodham

I definitely have stitching ADD lately. I can seem to settle on one project for long. I got out Shakespeare's Peddlers "Sarah Woodham 1770" and have been working on it for a few days. I'm really loving it again.

Well, I was supposed to go up to Manning to spend the day with Amy, but I've come down with something - I think it's a head cold - I had a mild case of pink eye and then woke up with a headache and stuffy nose today. I felt so bad for not being able to make it up there, but didn't want to risk getting her sick! So I guess I'm just going to hang out in my pjs and read or stitch. Write soon!

Christmas Rules Start

Here is my promised picture of Christmas Rules. I worked on it quite a bit yesterday - I finished the top freebie border and got a small start on the first block - "Be Kind."

Christmas Rules
32 ct. Lt. Mocha Belfast, WDW and CC threads.

I also got a small start on the fourth AotH block...

Small start on Block #4 - A Wish For You

I'm not sure how I'm going to personalize this one. I think I may put my nephew Harrison's name in there (he was born on 3/16). But that makes me wonder if I should now put my niece's name in the February block since she was born on 2/3 and then maybe stitch one of the samplers from the Honeysuckle Manor book for my great-grandma. Maybe I should have waited until the end to personalize!! :)

And I worked on some more filling in on Rubie Owl's Sampler...

Last, but not least... On December 4th, there will be a stitching get together in Manning, SC. It will be at The French Hens restaurant again. It was so much fun the last time we went in August. The food was wonderful, the lighting great (for stitching) and of course the company was awesome!! Come out and join us if you can - there's more info on Amy's blog.

Well, I think I'm going to try to finish getting that green filled in on Rubie today. I really want to get working on the top half of the design. Write soon!!

Two Blocks Finished!

The first block I finished over the weekend is the bonus block on Anniversaries of the Heart....

Bonus Block 1

Anniversaries of the Heart as of 11/13/10
40 ct. Meadow Rue By Lakeside Linen, Various hand-dyed cotton threads (1 over 2).

And the second block I finished last night is the BIG block on Shores. I finally got it finished!!

Shores as of 11/15/10

Shores Block 6/7
40 ct. Summer Khaki (over-dyed with Tan Rit Dye), NPI silks (1 over 2).

I also started a new Christmas Project - Lizzie Kate's "Christmas Rules." After seeing Natalie's progress pic, I just had to stitch it for my kids - not sure if I'll get it finished by Christmas though. I thought it would make a good car/Florida project. We are going to be driving down for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I don't have a pic yet, but hopefully tomorrow. Write soon!

Valentine Rose Finished!

I finished up the second block on my AotH project. I love how it turned out!

As you can see, I got a small start on the first bonus block...

Well, the kids do not get off today for Veteran's Day, but my dh did. He's golfing of course (going tomorrow too)! He's so spoiled, but worth it! :) My dh was in the Army, but thankfully did not get deployed. With him having been in the Army, it has really made me appreciate the men and women serving for our freedom today and everyday!

Write soon!

ETA: I didn't do the chain stitches around the flowers yet. I really stink at chain stitches, so I may just leave them out!

Valentine Rose Progress

I worked on this a lot this weekend. I'm loving it!!

Blackbird Designs "Anniversaries of the Heart," 40 ct. Meadow Rue, Various hand-dyed threads.

I can't believe I put this away for so long. I'm having so much fun stitching it. I'm already looking forward to the next block!

In other news I decided to create a forum for all my sampler loving friends. I thought it would be fun to have a friendly community where we could get together and talk about stitching (not just samplers). Hope to see you there! Here's the link...

Snow Garden Finished!!

I decided to get out my Anniversaries of the Heart project. Katrina, Siobhan, Laurie, and Faye (I got to see Faye's in person and it's just gorgeous) have inspired me so much, that I really want to get back to it!

40 ct. Meadow Rue by Lakeside Linen, GAST and WDW.

The last picture shows off the beautiful scissors I got for my birthday from a very special friend!! Thanks friend!! :) My husband's birthday is in January, so I put his initials and birth year and then I did our kid's initials over one. I plan to put my great-grandmother's name for February - Olive Emma Roof (isn't that a great name)? She was the most important person in my mom's life, and unfortunately she passed away while my mom was pregnant with me, so I never got to meet her, but from all the stories I've heard of her she seemed to be a very special person.

Threads for Block 2

Well, my dad and his wife are coming this weekend, so I'm not sure how much stitching I'll get done. Not sure what we have planned. I think it's going to be a quick visit because they are headed down to Florida for the winter. Write soon!!

Oops!

As I was stitching away on Rubie Owl yesterday, I realized I messed up the border around the green box. I forgot to leave room for the leaves! So I ripped it out and put in the leaves, that way I wouldn't mess up again when I went to fill in the green.

Rubie Owl's Sampler as of 11/2/10
40 ct. Vintage Sand Dune, NPI and Belle Soie silks.

I ended up changing the Red Fox to Poison Apple because my Red Fox is just too light and pinky.

Well, I really need to clean today. I've been neglecting the house in favor of stitching (what's new??). Write soon! :)

I Decided to Start.....

Two things! A few people told me I should start everything, which was very tempting!! I started out with "Quaker Diamonds." There are ton of color changes, but I'm loving how it's turning out. I got the stranded Valdani instead of the spools because I knew I wanted to stitch it on 40 ct.

After stitching on "Quaker Diamonds" for a couple hours I decided I would start "Rubie Owl's Sampler." I have loved this design for so long. Once I started stitching I really fell in love!

Thank you to everyone for the birthday wishes yesterday, they really made my day!! My dh brought home a cake from Publix. I just mentioned I would love a chocolate cake with whipped topping and he ordered it for me on Saturday when I was at Amy's. He even had them put in raspberry filling. It was soooo good!!! :)

Well, I think I'm going to back to Rubie! I do want to finish up Jenny Bean, so I'll probably get back to that too (maybe tomorrow - I'm enjoying Rubie too much right now)! :)

Write soon!
Edited to add: I had a couple people ask about my Picture this Plus linen - I can't remember where I got it from (it's been awhile), I know you can get it directly from them... http://www.picturethisplus.com/html/cross_stitch_fabric.html

New Start?

I was thinking since it's my birthday today - I might start something new. But what???

The first thing I was thinking of was Rubie Owl's Sampler. I have had this kitted since last year...

Plum Street Samplers "Rubie Owl's Sampler"

The next thing I was thinking of is "Quaker Diamonds." Check out Coni's beautiful finish if you haven't done so already!!

Another one I have loved since Tanya (Scarlett House) finished it last year is Plantation Sampler (I even asked for her conversion)!

And the last sampler I'm thinking of is "Where my Heart Blooms." I've had this one kitted forever too.

Hmm... Decisions, decisions! Well, even if I decide not start one today I still had fun playing in my stash! :) I have a lot to be thankful for today. My beautiful family, my health and my stash! :)
