These Be My Blessings

I worked on the over one words on "Family Sampler" last night while watching Return of the Jedi with my son. I told my husband since I didn't have daughters and my sons won't play Barbies with me this is my consolation because I loved Star Wars growing up. I wanted to be Princesses Leia, (who didn't, right?), she was/is my heroine! :) Anyway, enough about that - here are a couple progress pics...

Family Sampler as of 1/12/09

Family Sampler

I had to use flash because it's very overcast today and cold! It's only 44, which is unusual for us. I have been spoiled by highs of 60-70 everyday. Well, I have to get going - lots to do today! Write soon! :)

  3. Lovely...

I remember seeing the very first Star Wars movie at a drive-in theater laying in the back of my parents' van in my PJs with my brother!

  7. Nicole, you are making wonderful progress on your piece. I can't wait to see the finishing. It looks amazing so far!

BTW, I love Star Wars! I just watched Star Wars: A New Hope the other night while I stitched. I put those movies in just to go to sleep sometimes. They soothe me! I wanted to be the Princess too bc of Han Solo. :o) OMGoodness! He still has it going on. LOL

  9. Nicole this is so pretty!! I just love these colors in this and your stitching is as always just gorgeous!! I am so inspired to stitch my first time on Shepherd's Bush but have to work on my friend's wedding sampler first! I love this!! Also we are getting this winter cold blast too. It is only 38 right now and I wish my electric blanket was wrapped around me here in my chair!! Debby

  10. I enjoy seeing your progress on this piece. It is coming along nicely.

We in the Bay Area, have traded our cool temps for unusually high 70's I am loving all the warmth. And have a tendency to rub it in when I call my dad in Ohio... LOL Rotten I know.

  12. It looks beautiful. The colors are so soft and relaxed.

So, you're not going to make your boys stitch:)I think my DH would die if he caught met teaching our son to cross stitch one day.

  16. This such a wonderful SB piece and certainly a lot of fun to stitch it. I'll have to stitch a SB project this year, too.

  19. Another one who wanted to be the princess because she ended up with Han Solo. When Star Wars first came out, I was 16 and all my girlfriends loved Luke. Not me - I wanted the older man! I've been a fan of Harrison Ford ever since.

I think my son understands my need to be a girl sometimes, so he'll sit and watch the occasional "chick flick" with me :)

    Nice progress on Family Sampler!

  21. Looking great, Nicole, what a lovely piece, and as always, you make it look so easy. And I did teach my sons to stitch--even if they don't do it now, they have knowledge of what it takes to stitch. My daughter-in-law, in learning to stitch, was surprised when her hubby showed her how to strip DMC. It helps considerably when our guys know about our craft. They don't seem to mind the expense so much. Now if I can just teach my DH to quit talking while I'm counting, lol. Can't wait to see the next progress picture!
