In a Slight Slump....

I haven't been able to stitch lately for some reason. I'm feeling restless. I don't know if it's because my dad and his wife are coming or what? I've been cleaning and trying to have everything look nice for them. We also got new living room furniture on Wednesday, so that has occupied my time some. We got a black leather couch, love seat and tables from Rooms to Go. Normally, I wouldn't chose black leather, but dh likes it and I was thinking it would be practical with three boys. I got some pillows and lamps to warm it up some. Here's a pic...

New Living Room

It's not the greatest pic, but I think you get the idea. :) As far as stitching I have been fleeting from one thing to the next. Trying to settle on something. I stitched a little bit more on my Stacy Nash pillow..

Early Style Alphabet Pinkeep Pillow

And I decided to start Lizzie Kate's "Christmas is Forever" kit. I just got a little bit stitched on that yesterday...

And today while looking through Andrea's albums I came across her "With my Needle" by The Goode Huswife and fell in love! I realized I have that pattern after doing a search. So I pulled the DMC. I can't decide whether to use 32 ct. linen or 40. I should probably go with the 32 since I can only stand stitching on 40 ct. for so long! Here's a pic of the threads on 40 ct. Light Examplar...

Goode Huswife "With My Needle"

Well, my dad just called and he's on his way! Write later (hopefully with some stitching progress to share)!

  2. Your living room looks beautiful! When I lived in Charlottesville my living room was painted in the same color. I rent a house now, so it's drabby white walls for me. I try to make it more colors with curtains, pillows and artwork. But nothing is better than deep olive or chocolate walls...

  3. Your living room looks very cozy~ I wish I could paint my walls but it's impossible in rental apartments..... That's way I volunteered to help my sister paint when she bought her house~ ^^

Your new starts look lovely! Can't wait to see their progress~

  4. I have enjoyed seeing an American style sitting room, surprised it's not so far different to a British one really apart from we are all very beige here on the whole. I think a leather suite is the 'in' thing in the western world LOL including in my house this year , we have dark brown ;-) Anyway yours all looks gorgeous and I love love love your big windows :)
    Have a nice weekend

You have some sweet projects there. I know what you mean, sometimes even when you have all these things to stitch you just can't settle on one that you are really excitied about. It'll come. Have a good weekend.

  8. Your living room looks so inviting. The leather couch looks comfy, the room looks tidy, and everything's ready for when your father arrives. I know what it's like when you're trying to get things in order for when guests visit.

I hope you can find a project that you can enjoy. Maybe it's a case of having too many other things on your mind to really get into your stitching. That Good Huswife pattern has caught my eye - not another thing to add to my stash list? lol

  11. Love the living room, Nicole! It looks very cozy--and what a wonderful wall of windows! Great stitching projects, too. Good luck with the slump. I HATE feeling so restless about my stitching but maybe once you get stuck into a project, you'll be okay & feel a bit more settled. Enjoy your dad's visit!

Figured out where to put your stitching nest yet? Maybe that's why you're in a slight slump, LOL!
