Slowly Stitching

I have been slowly working on "Peppermint Lane."

Peppermint Lane as of 12/10/08

I have been stitching so slow because I've been distracted by other things like trying to cut foam core board so I can frame something for a Christmas present. But since I can't cut in a straight line, I have finally given up after wasting three boards, and now I have decided to go to a frame shop to have them cut it. I should have just done that in the first place! Oh well, what can you do? :) Well, nothing else going on! Write soon!

  1. Hi Nicole:

Your start on Peppermint Lane is really beauiful! I have that one too and love it! My dh has done lots of framing and he has had to use mat cutters to cut them so I would imagine it is really hard to cut things. I have never attempted it myself, but it seems like it would be hard. Maybe these are different but am not sure how that would work. Sometimes it just is not worth the stress to have to try over and over. I am sure you aren't the only one who has had a frustrating time of it!

  2. I use a metal ruler as a guide when cutting. Then I lean over and put all my weight on the ruler so it doesn't budge when I cut. I also use a mat cutter, it slides easier than an exacto knife. Oh. I cut on the floor instead of on a table. :)

PS. Your "slow" stitching is faster than my "medium pace" stitching. hehe

  3. You sound like me right now! I'm trying to finish a sewing project that is a gift and I'm pulling my hair out! Peppermint Lane is great! Mine is kitted up, but will probably wait until after Christmas!

  4. Your Peppermint Lane is very pretty! I am getting ready to attempt to frame something myself on foam core. I haven't tried cutting it yet. I only have two boards so I may be in trouble. :)

  6. Great start on Peppermint Lane Nicole.

I have trouble cutting mat board. We had a really large guillotine at my place of work so when I retired I really missed it!

  7. Oh Nicole, don't feel bad, you're not the only one that can't cut a straight line, lol! Also can't sew a straight line either. That's what I love about cross stitch, it's all ok as long as you follow the linen lines ;-)
Anyhoo...I have Hobby Lobby cut my board for me, they usually don't even charge me, just pay for the board!
