Quaker Virtues SAL

I got out QV yesterday and worked on it some. I put it away though because I'm just not sure about the colors.

Quaker Virtues as of 2/25/09
40 ct. Ivory (with a little tan rit dye) Ricamo, Crescent Colours Wild Berries and Weeping Willow.

I got out Quaker Christmas and worked on that some because I know I love these colors...

Quaker Christmas
40 ct. Vintage Examplar, Belle Soie silks - Cranberry, Collard Greens and Butterscotch

My problem is not seeing it completely stitched in the colors I picked out. I'm such a copier that I usually go with colors that is recommended by the designer or that I have seen someone else use, which is what I did with Quaker Christmas. I copied Merumo's colors. Anyway, I may just work on Quaker Christmas for the SAL (hope that's ok girls) and try to get it finished up and think about Quaker Virtues later. That's so Scarlet O'Hara of me I know! She was the queen of justification and worrying about it another day! :) Write soon!

  1. BOTH are lovely Nicole... I LOVE the threads on QV, I think they're wonderful, honestly I do. I feel in love with Quaker Christmas when you had it here last month... bring them both on Saturday! I know QV looks just as lovely in person as QC did!

  2. Hi Nicole,
I justify using the designer's exact colors because I feel that if those are the colors that attracted the design to me in the first place, then they are what will make me happy with the finished project. Your work is just beautiful!

  3. Nicole, I love both too! I think the QV colors are wonderful! But it's important for you to be happy with it. Otherwise you won't finish it. I tend to go for the same colors as the designer as well but on pieces like this, it's fun to experiment -- as long as you find what you like! Anyway, gorgeous work! I love both these pieces!

  5. I too like QV and the colors that you chose. The only thing though is that if YOU don't like them, it makes it hard to want to stitch on it so I would find something else if you just really don't like how they look. I am like you too in that I either use what is called for or if I see someone's that I like I usually get the same. Your work is gorgeous though!

  11. Honestly...I think your QV color choices, now that you've gotten more done and we can see what it really is going to be like...I think it is stunning. I really honestly feel that way. Now as far as your QC, what are the colors, because seeing you stitch with them....is making me want to get that too!

  13. Honestly, I love your color choises! I think it looks wonderful and I just want to eat it! LOL!

Is there room for more people in the SAL? It might get me motivated on working on Quaker Christmas again. I haven't touched it in weeks and would really love to get it done before next Christmas. So if there is room for another stitcher, let me know, I would love to join you guys :)

  18. Nicole, I think both are wonderful! But, as Margaret said, it's important for you to be happy with it. I've learned from experience that if you're questioning your choices now, stop. Otherwise you'll do what I usually do, keep going till I can't NOT finish but not like it the whole way through.

  23. I have loved your QV colors since you first stitched a little practice swatch sometime ago. I even wrote them down so that I could remember what they were in case I decided to stitch this someday (I am a copier too. :) ).
But like others have said, you are the one that has to ultimately be happy with your choices.

I love QC too! Those colors are gorgeous as well.

  28. I think the colours you've chosen for QV are lovely but if they're not speaking to you, it's better to change it now than get halfway through the project. QC looks lovely, too!

  30. LOL I just wrote a post and referenced Scarlett O'Hara too! Weird :)

I like the colors on both designs! Soft colors always go well with Quaker motifs! Have you seen the newest issue of The Cross Stitcher. It has some lovely Quaker motifs for notecards!

As always, thanks for sharing your beautiful stitching!
