Sea to Shining Sea Finished!!

I got the final thread pack from Amy on Saturday and I was determined to finish it up yesterday!

Fabric: 32 ct. Vintage Sea Storm by Lakeside Linens
Threads: Belle Soie Silks (1 over 2)

I had so much fun stitching this one. I really looked forward to every thread pack and the different silk colors. The only thing I changed was on Southwest. I used Icing for the windows and clouds instead of the gray. It was a little too dull for me.

Today I'm going to be working on Kind Fond Love Sampler. I hope to get either some of the words stitched or some trees. :) Write later!

Stitching and Framing

I finished the border on Sea to Shining Sea yesterday. Now I just have to wait for the last block to come out and I will be done!

I also framed "Queen Bee" this morning. I've had it just sitting in the frame for a couple months and I finally got around to lacing it around the foam core. I usually use pins, but thought I would try lacing this one since it's small. I painted the frame a dark charcoal gray a while back. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Well, today is "Kind Fond Love Sampler" day. I'm doing pretty well on my rotation so far. Hopefully I'll be able to stick to it! :) Write soon!

Midwest Finished!

I decided to work on Sea to Shining Sea last night instead of Kind Fond Love. I thought I'd better get "Midwest" finished before the next one came out.

Sea to Shining Sea as of 1/31/09

This was a very fun block to stitch. I love the red house! :) Now, I'm either going to work on Kind Fond Love, or maybe I'll be bad and start something new! Write soon!

Stitching, Dyeing and Kitting

I have been stitching some. I finished up Sea to Shining Sea "Mountains." I plan to get "Midwest" started soon.

Sea to Shining Sea as of 1/19/09

I also got out Bent Creek's "Seasons of Change Row." I would like to get this one finished up. It's too small to be a UFO! :)

And here is the fabric I dyed - click on the picture to get the whole story. :)

Rit-Dyed Linen

And here are some things I kitted. I would love to start one of these one day...

I'm not sure if these are the exact fabrics I will use. I was just seeing how the threads looked with some of them. Well, I'm going to try to get some more stitching done tonight! Write soon! :)

Warning - Very long post!

I went stitching Saturday at Amy's and had a blast! We talked and stitched and talked some more! We have so much in common - it's so nice to meet someone like that! Anyway, while there Amy somehow convinced me to join the "Quaker Virtues" SAL with her, Vonna and Terry, which starts in February. It didn't take much convincing because the project is gorgeous and I had already been drooling over this one stitched by Dianne's mom. It was settled when Amy pulled out the fabric she is going to use. A gorgeous 40 ct. linen. She must know my weakness for linen! So my next dilemma was what color thread to use. I pulled out all my hand-dyed and DMC. I knew I wanted a pinky-red for the motifs and a green for the letters. I'm sort of copying Dianne's mom here. I finally decided on these after stitching a little swatch...

Crescent Colours Wild Berries and Weeping Willow. And to really make sure I really liked them I stitched a little bit on the linen I was going to use, which I dyed with a little bit of tan Rit Dye just to give it an antique appearance.

I think I'm going to like it! So now I will put it away until the actual start date and try to get caught up on some other things like "Sea to Shining Sea." I worked on this some at Amy's and yesterday...

Along with the "Quaker Virtues" chart and linen (this is what it looked like before I dyed it) here is the other stash I got from Down Sunshine Lane...

Stash from Down Sunshine Lane

I got the newest Lizzie Kate Giggle Boxer, which is totally me (it says "Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?") and the newest Sea to Shining Sea "Midwest" thread pack.

Last but not least I had a package waiting for me on Saturday. It's a scrap caddy that I ordered from this Etsy Shop. I originally saw it on Danielle's blog and thought it was so cute!

Well, I think that's all I have to share for now! I'm going to try to get some stitching done while my baby's taking a nap! Write soon! :)

A Couple Little Finishes...

I got "Southwest" finished up the other day. I made one change. I decided to use Icing instead of the Tumbleweed. The Tumbleweed was just too gray for me. I like how the Icing stands out better making it looking cleaner and crisper.

Sea to Shining - Two Blocks completed

I then decided to work on my little "Acorn Scissor Case" yesterday. I got it finished up before the kids and I left to go to Chuck E. Cheese, which we couldn't go in to because it was filled beyond capacity. They were pretty disappointed (I was not).

Lizzie Kate Acorn Scissor Case finished

And since we couldn't go to Chuck E. Cheese I decided to go to A.C. Moore and get myself an early Christmas present!

I got a Daylight Slimline Magnifying lamp. My Ott-Lite broke a while ago and I've been wanting a new light for some time now. And I've been wanting a magnifying light, so I can stop complaining that I can't see while working on 40 ct. :) I found a place online that carries the floorstand for this light at a good price with free shipping, so I may get that in the future. I would like to be able to take it around the house easily.

Anyway, that's all for now! I started my November Flip-It Bit last night and I hope to get it finished up today. I'm so determined to get these done! Just one more after this!! :) Write soon!

Feeling Much Better!!

Wow, what a difference a day can make. I can type! And maybe later I'll attempt stitching! My finger is still numb from the shot they gave me, but the pain virtually gone. I took some pictures of the stitching I had been working on before this happened...

West Coast Finished!

I was going to start "Thankful Sheep," but I couldn't stop stitching "Sea to Shining Sea!" I got the bottom border and "West Coast" stitched. Now I just have to do the top border and wait for the next installment. I'm loving this design!

Nothing much going on here. Just enjoying a lazy Sunday! Write later! :)

Stash Diving

I was going through my patterns today and one caught my eye, so I decided to pull the threads for it, and then I decided to to throw the threads on some linen and here is the result!

Her Sampler with linen and threads

The pattern is an old one called "Her Sampler" by Kathy Barrick-Dieter from when she was designing under Barrick Samplers. The threads are DMC and the linen is 40 ct. Light Sand New Castle. I'm into 40 ct. again for some crazy reason!

I also got a little bit more stitched on "Sea to Shining" I'm loving this one. I love the linen and the silks are such a nice change from all the cotton I've been stitching with lately.

Sea to Shining Sea

It's so nice to be home! We had a rough trip going and coming back. I don't think any of the kids wanted to be in the car for eight hours! I was thinking of going down again for Thanksgiving, but after the last trip the thought makes me shudder slightly! :) Write later!

Back from Florida!

We drove down on my birthday Saturday and right when I got to my mom's house she gave me a gift certificate to my LNS down there. She knew I was wanting the fabric for "Sea to Shining Sea." I got the fabric (32 ct. Vintage Sea Storm) and started a little bit of it - just to make sure it looked ok! :)

LHN Sea to Shining Sea WIP

I also got a few other things...

Birthday Stash

My favorite fabric - 32 ct. Vintage Examplar, the new Praiseworthy Stitches chart "Simple Gifts - Love," and the Just Nan "Sizzle" pinwheel. I had gotten the tin, but not the pinwheel - I decided to get it now that I'm feeling a little more confident with my finishing skills after taking the class with Jane Timmers.

I also found the new Ginghers at Joann's while I was down there. I think they're so pretty...

Gingher Scissors "Sarah"

And I also finished a couple of things...

Lizzie Kate "A Bit of October"

Fabric: 29 ct. Natural Glenshee
Threads: GAST and WDW
Started: 10/29/08 - Finished: 11/1/08

I really want to get this banner finished up this year (I started it last year). Just two more months and it will be done! and I got "Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle" finished. I plan to either finish it into an ornament or a pinkeep. :) Write soon!

P.S. I was able to vote in Florida before I left. Congrats to Obama!

Acorn Hill and an Ornament Finished!

DSC_0004
Little House Needleworks "Acorn Hill"
Fabric: 32 ct. Vintage Luna by Lakeside Linens
Threads: Crescent Colours and GAST
Started: 10/14/08 - Finished: 10/27/08

I ended up getting Acorn Hill finished pretty early last night, so I decided to also finish an ornament - using what I call the Ruth Technique! :) She finishes her ornaments so pretty and so simple. She just sews them on to felt and frays them a little. The only difference on mine was I used pinking shears on the edge of my felt.

LHN Pine Tree Hill finished into an ornament.

I also received some early birthday stash yesterday from DSL! I ordered it on Friday and it was here Monday! Talk about instant gratification!! :)

DSC_0010

I got the two new "Sea to Shining Sea" thread packs along with "Peppermint Lane" and Lizzie Kate's "Don't Get Your Tinsel in a Tangle." I love that chart, I plan to finish it into an ornament like the one above. Oh and I also got the "Dragonfly" thread pack from CCN. I forgot to include it in the picture.

Here are the "Sea to Shining Sea" silks on the recommended Natural Belfast Linen...

And here they are on the linen that I think would be perfect for it, which is Sea Storm by Lakeside Linens...

Only I don't have enough. I'm hoping when I go down to Florida this weekend that my LNS down there will have it. I think I remember seeing it last time I was there.

Well, I think this post is long enough now! Write later! :)
