Memories as of 3/17/08

I got Memories back out and got a couple more bands finished. I'm up to band seven now. The over one words. I tried stitching a little of it last night and quit because I kept messing up. the threads kept hiding on me under the threads of the linen. Anyway, here's my progress pic...

I also got another little thing in the mail yesterday.

Thread Holder from Studio Twenty

It's a thread holder made by Monique of My Mark Designs. It goes great with my Just Nan project and it makes finding the threads I need so easy! :)

  1. The colors of Memories are so beautiful! I wonder, is there a trick for keeping the threads from tucking under the linen when stitching over 1? I had a problem with that on a previous project. And I love those thread holders! They are all over these days. Lucky you!

  2. Memories is gorgeous! I LOVE the bright colors. Don't you have to take the entire hank off the thread holder whenever you need a new length? Maybe I don't understand how to use it. It seems like work to me. It's cute tho. Hope you will show a few more designs from The Goode Huswife Book. It's pricey, so I am wondering if it would be worth it for me. Thanks for showing one already. I must tell you that thanks to reading your blog, I am now addicted to Country Cottage Needleworks and Little House Needleworks! I just ordered CCN Home Sweet Home, and I am eyeing up several others. Like I need more projects!

  5. Nicole, if your threads are hiding under the linen threads during over one stitching, try changing the direction of your last half of the stitch. Instead of coming up from the bottom right, try coming down from top left and cross the stitch. And if you do that, and it hides, do the stitch the normal way--its all in what thread you are stitching over at the time. This way is a total pain but it works. Your Just Nan is gorgeous and like louanne, you've gotten me addicted to LHN and CCN. Love the thread holder.

  7. Memories is coming along great and FAST! I don't know how you are working through your WIPs so fast! I think maybe Florida has 25 hour days, no? ;) Those thread keepers are adorable. I've ordered two so far, but haven't used them yet. I'm not entirely sure if I'll remember the color names/numbers after I'm done stitching a project so I can hang the color back on it's original tag/thread drop. How have you worked that out with yours? Anyway, love the new stash, especially the Goode Huswife design book.

  9. I re-read my previous comment, and had an oh-my-gosh-the-answer-is-so-obvious moment! You use the chart to reference any colors you don't recognize.
