A Few More Trees

I haven't been stitching too much. I've kind of gone fob crazy the past couple of days. The bead shop has captivated me! It's just too tempting and sparkly going in there to come out empty handed. I did get a little bit stitched on P&P.

Along with making fobs I coffee-dyed some more linen. I may try doing a couple more pieces again when I have more time to see if I can get them a little darker. The best way for me is to just do them in the sink and poor the coffee over them. I tried simmering them with grounds, but they turned out a little grey.

My dh is coming home tomorrow for about nine days! He has a trial that he has to testify in from when he arrested someone down here. So they are giving him off for that and his supervisor told him he didn't have to come back until Christmas when he goes on duty as a duty agent. That when they get their cases. And then I'll be going up there with kids for a week on the 29th. :)

Well, not much else going on. Matthew is sick. He's caught a bug of some kind. He's had a fever, coughing and runny nose. I just gave him some tylenol, so hopefully he'll go to sleep soon. The poor thing.

I'll leave you a pic of some of my fobs. I guess I need to put some up for sale, but I just hate to part with any of them. I get so attached! LOL! :) Write later!

  3. Oh - pretty fobs. AND I have something that will cheer you up. I often shop from a website called Fusion Beads and they have a nifty item called Swarovski mixes - packets of 50 4mm bicones in assorted colors. Perfect for creating new fobs and experimenting with new color combos without spending a lot.

  5. Love poinsettias and your coffee dyed linen has turned out a lovely natural shade. Really pretty.

IF you decide to sell the fobs, let me know - I spied at least one that I'd like if you don't mind shipping to the UK :o)

  7. You're making great progress on P&P! And your fobs are gorgeous! That's great that you and your hubby will get to spend time together during the holidays :)

I have been unable to get coffee-dyed linen very dark, but can vary the darkness quite easily with tea...I use a 4qt dutch oven filled halfway with water and add a lot of teabags (maybe 12 or more) bring to a boil, turn down to very low and add dampened fabric right to the pot on the stove. Watch carefully because the fabric will dye pretty quickly. You can always pull it out and run it under a little warm water to check it and return to the pot if necessary.

  11. Coffee dyed linen colors are wonderful, this is something I have always wanted to try but worried about it destroying the fabric in years to come.. anyone know and can post. Your P&P is so beautiful, and the right touch for the season

  15. I'm so pleased you parted with one and sent it to me!! I love my fob! Thank you so much, Nicole. I've used it all day today stitching. What a dyeing tear you've been on, as well. The coffee colors look wonderful. Have you tried dyeing with onion or some veggie greens? Might get some pretty colors there...
